Stopped by near the end of the day. Some of the tables were clean. The service seemed stiff. Still tipped because everyone is doing their best. Cookie was very hard, almost but not quite stale (confusing because some reviews say they run out of some pastries frequently). Pound cake was nice. Bread was hearty but poorly wrapped. A little short on value for the cost.

Just tried the bread and it is really good. Looking forward to trying something else on my next visit.

I bought 2 cupcakes today, a vanilla with chocolate frosting and a carrot with the usual frosting. Both were stale and hard as a rock. I'd heard about their place in the city and was told it was great. This was my first time in there and unfortunately, my last.

I was happy to get a beautiful loaf bread along with these very addictive light and airy shortbread cookies.

Disappointing. Consistently “run” out of pastries by 9am (opens at 8) or they don’t receive their delivery. Again today—Sunday 7/14. 8:30am- no pastries! Did not receive delivery. Usually spend $30+. Today nothing to buy.

Ideally, I'd give Jane/Marin a 3.5/5.

Jane/Marin offers a convenient location for a coffee and pastry break. Nestled in a strip mall with various stores, Jane/Marin provides a casual atmosphere for a quick bite. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is a plus.

The bakery itself is quite colorful and cheerful. The flower pots outside and the bright green chairs create a vibrant first impression. Inside, the wall art explodes with shades of yellow, orange, and red. However, a minor quirk – finding the restroom can be a bit of a challenge. They don't have a dedicated public restroom, but the staff will kindly point you towards one in the back office if you ask.

Jane/Marin offers a classic selection of bakery treats – biscuits, cupcakes, croissants, muffins, breads - you name it. They also have a full coffee and tea menu. My friend tried their turmeric latte and a sweet treat (the name escapes me). Unfortunately, the pastry was quite hard and needed reheating, and he wasn't a huge fan of the flavor either. His turmeric latte also seemed light on the turmeric, tasting more like steamed milk.

On the other hand, my experience was much better. I ordered a chai latte and their banana bread. The staff was very friendly and readily warmed up the banana bread for me. It was absolutely delicious – light, delicate, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. I should have grabbed a slice to go! My chai latte was good, with a nice chai flavor that wasn't overpowering. However, it did have a lot of froth, which can be a bit much for some.

Overall, Jane/Marin offers a decent selection of coffee and pastries in a cheerful setting. The staff is friendly, and the banana bread is a must-try. However, there's room for improvement with some menu items, and the lack of a dedicated restroom can be a bit inconvenient. If you're in the area and looking for a casual coffee break, it's worth a visit, but keep your expectations in check.

The quality of the baked goods and coffee has completely plummeted since it was Sweet Things. Coffee bland, pastries bland. The decision to discontinue things that were widely loved and bought on a daily basis, seems like a very foolish business decision, maybe driven by stubborn ego. Sad, hope this turns around.

I’ve been going to sweet things my entire life. So completely disappointed in the change. The quality of the baked goods and coffee is mediocre at best, prices have increased (understand this is how everything is going), service is bad, untrained staff who don’t have basic social skills, and they’ve gotten rid of all my favorite items that I looked forward to making a trip to this spot to enjoy.I have no idea why the choices were made to completely change the vibe, offerings and people but I will not be going to patronize any longer unless I hear they’ve repaired the damage. I know I am not alone, and see others that have made similar comments. You can’t ignore the community.

This place missed the mark. They clearly are priced to cater to the 94920 crowd. The area behind the counter was dirty. While waiting in line we saw one of the employees wipe the counter edge with a rag, then wipe the steam thing on the espresso maker, then wipe his hands, all with the same rag. That rag then went on to the espresso machine shelf. And then a lady walked in with her dog. Not a service dog, just her dog in her arms. Employees didn’t care. The abstract painting on the back wall is an interesting color scheme for a food establishment as it looks like smeared blood. The 6 inch Yule log was $42. At the quality and size of the Yule log and the amount they were selling, it was beyond over priced. Even $30 would have been over priced. It was covered in an inch of flavorless chocolate ganache. Not made to look like a typical Yule log at all, no resemblance to a “log” except for being slightly log shape. It was odd, there was zero chocolate flavor despite being a literal inch of ganache on all sides. The cake itself was also lacking any sort of flavor and on the dry side. The filling was I guess was a coffee whipped cream. The ganache needed to be at room temp to get a fork through it but the filling needed to be at fridge temp to hold up and prevent it from melting. It was also a shock to have the coffee flavor as when we asked about the Yule log, we were only told it was chocolate flavor. The only decor on the entire cake were 6 3mm “gold” stars that seemed to be purchased and then painted “gold” in the shop.

Once a premier bakery with excellent service this is now owned and run by Jane with her name on the products. Buying an Apple pie or Cherry pie used to be easy. Just walk in and they'd have them on the counter. But since the takeover I went and the person at the counter said "You have to call a day in advance". Inconvenient but next time I DID call the day before and was told I needed to order TWO days in advance. What is this all about? To save money by only selling pies baked to order so there is no loss from unsold pies? I'm sure bakeries run on slim margins but somehow Jane made an expensive remodel of the store. And after my poor experience wouldn't even bother to call me back. Congratulations Jane, yo just lost a regular customer.

For 30 years, Michelle Mason at Jane (formerly Sweet Things) has been making and decorating our families’ cakes for all occasions. They are always delicious, but Michelle’s artistry blows us away. In addition to being an incredible artist, Michelle has a unique talent for coming up with creative ideas. My husband and I share a birthday, and because he was turning 81 and me 75, I suggested she write, “Happy Birthday to Us.” Michelle asked me about our hobbies and interests and proceeded to create the cake in this photo, complete with logos of our favorite stores, pictures of our hobbies, names of family members, and the Buckeye, where we had the luncheon.Thank you, Michelle and all of the bakers at Jane, for giving cake- joy to our community!
