Food was unfortunately forgettable and didn’t make the calories worth while. Combined with a not great atmosphere made me wish I had chosen somewhere else to eat

We tried El Jefe Taqueria and had a mixed experience. We ordered one soft chicken taco, one hard shell chicken taco, a quesabirria, and a chicken crunch wrap.
The quesabirria was definitely the star of the meal, flavorful, juicy, and perfectly cooked. I would absolutely recommend it!
The soft chicken taco, however, was disappointing. It had almost no flavor, even with their “spicy” sauce, which wasn’t spicy at all. The hard shell chicken taco had a nice crunch, but the flavor just wasn’t there. The chicken crunch wrap was soggy instead of crunchy , it felt like eating a wet wrap. I personally didn’t like it, but my husband actually enjoyed it, so it might just be a matter of taste.
They also had chips and salsa while waiting for food. The chips were tasty and had a nice crunch to them. The self-serve salsa was okay , could use a bit more flavor ,but it was a nice little bonus to snack on while we waited.
Service was friendly, though it took over 25 minutes to get our food. They were super busy, so I understand the delay.
Overall, I’d say this place is worth trying for their red meat options (especially the quesabirria), but I’d skip the chicken items next time.

Dirty restaurant and they overcharge $6 to add rice on their “veggie tacos” which originally only comes with beans and onions. Guy working up front is rude and excited to overcharge for any little thing. Do a favor, and add a proper veggie taco to your damn menu

The perfect spot for Mexican food.
The quesabirrias are the top tier, we ordered the birria ramen and tacos for kids.
They were spot on!
Desserts are on another level too, nothing beats those flans.
Will definitely be back. 😋😋❤️

Just by seeing the outside I was ready to be amazed and even more when I entered inside. That atmosphere was inviting. There was no wait while waiting for your food less than 10 mins.
You can order through the screen or to the checkout and order. That has plenty of seats and can also cater.
Now the food was very tasty especially with the side of sauce. The food fills you up a lot make and with that you can get a small dish or a big dish I think the best way to put it.
I got the crunch wrap, birria tacos 3pc, street taco single, and Jarritos. The menus also has shareables which I got asada fries.
There’s a kids menu, cravings, family value meal, and sides
You can also get free chips with guacamole and salsa while waiting.
Everything is halal
Hope this helps

We Ordered 2 California burritos with chicken and steak. The chicken was literally just chicken and the fries. No beans, no sour cream, salsa, guacamole as advertised. The steak only came with guac and sour cream at the very bottom of the burrito only about two bites worth. We were very disappointed
Update: the store replied below and claimed they included guacamole which is not the case I had to add my own from my home as this burrito came dry with only chicken and potatoes

We tried El Jefe Taqueria in Tracy last weekend, and it was absolutely amazing! It’s not easy to find great halal Mexican food, but this place really impressed us.
We ordered the beef quesabirria, birria ramen, and the shrimp fajitas, and everything was packed with flavor. Even our kids loved it, which says a lot!
I don’t usually go to Mexican restaurants often, but this place completely changed my mind. The food, quality, and taste were all outstanding.
I just wish they had another branch closer to us in Fremont because we’d definitely be regulars. Highly recommend El Jefe Taqueria to any Mexican food lover—you won’t be disappointed!

I don’t know that I would agree with 4.5 stars here. Food was OK but not 4.5 stars worth. Average Mexican restaurant is what I would say.
