Belacan Grill - Malaysian Bistro

Hainan chicken is OK... Generally speaking, the food is Ok. My concern is not their food, it is the hygiene of the dinnerware. The 1st plate I got was full of grease, asked a mexican guy to change, the new plate is even more dirtier and it had a dark stain on the plate. TO MY SURPRISE, that guy used his thumb to mop the plate DIRECTLY... in front of me... and walked away... OMG... is it difficult to wash dishes the right way? It is hard to believe and I am still thinking what happend there tonight...

The best Sates anywhere. You gotta get those. I also had the kung pao seafood. Both delicious. Seafood was fresh. A little more fish would have been nice. Overall a great place.

Ate here with a buddy who favors Malay food. Met the owner/manager, I think, assertive and. knowledgeable with a customer level of spice, diet, and comfort.
Had the rendang chicken, a side of roti with curry and it was delicious, with side of coconut rice.
Great atmosphere, full bar, attentive staff, with location and parking really not a problem.
I certainly will return on my next visit. back and try the beef rendang.

PS- to the. gal i talked to , owner/manager, after our dinner. Friend went back the nxt day to order 4 orders of the beef rendang to go- ya.... you are funny gurl!!! I was in the car, eating some shu mai i bought. down the street from your place. See ya next time!!

This is the best Malaysian food ever I’ve tried since I’ve been is US. I’ve always missed really authentic taste back from my town and I am so happy that I came to find out about Belacan Grill.

Highly recommended if you are looking to try Malaysian food this is the place to go.

I wish I live closer, that would be my daily go to place.

This Malaysian restaurant really hit the spot! Everything we ordered was packed with flavor — the satay skewers were juicy and came with a delicious peanut sauce, the char kway teow was smoky and well-balanced, the Hainan chicken was tender with three great sauces, and the kangkung stir-fry was perfectly spiced. We ended with a refreshing bowl of cendol that wasn’t too sweet — just right.

The only downside is that service was a bit slow, but the food more than made up for it. Definitely worth the wait. Will come back for sure!

The food was excellent—authentic and flavorful Malaysian cuisine. I especially recommend the Hainan chicken and traditional flatbread. However, the service was quite slow. As a solo diner seated at the bar counter, the flickering lights gave me the feeling of being in a nightclub. Overall, the restaurant is decent, though some of the hardware facilities could use an upgrade. On a side note, there are three restrooms, but all are relatively cramped. That said, they were kept clean. I’d still recommend this place.

Been coming here for a while. Service was terrible tonight. Tony L, our server, was irritated that we asked for some dip, even though we said we'd pay extra. Waited for service for almost 15 minutes. Food was good as always, service was terrible, won't be returning.

Great food, came for Iftar. Hot and sour soup was delicious. Also enjoyed the roti. But hands down favorites were the Mamak mee goreng and Belacan fried rice. Friendly service and great ambiance. Probably some of the best Malaysian food I’ve had in SoCal. Recommend a visit!

As a Malaysian, the food here is amazing! It could be considered as a top tier restaurant in Malaysia!! Highly satisfying to dine here after living abroad (out of Msia) for 4 years.

Everyone who works here is so friendly and very helpful. They are knowledgeable about gluten free issues. Our food came so quickly and waiters were attentive to us throughout our meal. Recommend making a reservation as it was busy on a Saturday night.

I recently dined at this restaurant and had a pleasant experience overall, giving it a solid four-star rating. While I found the food to be decent but not particularly extraordinary, what truly impressed me was the outstanding service.

The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, making sure that all my needs were met throughout the meal. They took the time to explain the menu and offered great recommendations, which enhanced my dining experience.

Although the food itself didn’t wow me, the excellent service definitely made up for it. I appreciated the warm atmosphere and the care that the staff put into their work. I would recommend this restaurant and would be happy to return in the future!
