We used to get 2 meatballs with the lunch special, but, apparently they lowered it to one meatball now. The sauce tastes like tomato sauce with no flavor. When we stood in line to ask about the meatball (we noticed when we went to eat in the car) the workers completely bypassed us and served a few other customers, even though we were in line right in front of them. Complained to the manager who did nothing and she could care less. That was not cool! The sandwiches are good, but not the best and skimpy on the meat and cheese fillings. I can't say this is the best Italian deli. We're totally disappointed.

Don't go during lunch time unless you have time to spare. The food is great. The products are good quality. The bread is good too.

i really think this place need a profressional mamagement touch by re-arranging the deli order & to separate the sampling and the straight ordering, to enforce the # system religionly. My order was 74, the couple was 76, their two-item orders went through the same persons who made my one-item order, and they got their two-item orders right before my one-item order. WHY?

ORDERED a meatball sandwich
Obviously the server was not Italian.. I asked for a meatball sandwich not a dipping sandwich where the sandwich dripped what happened to Gallo's toasted bread???

Also meatballs have sunflower oil added
An Italian place not using OLIVE OIL!?!?

Absolutely terrible experience.
I ordered from Claro’s Italian Market through DoorDash and waited over 35 minutes at the restaurant for my food. When I arrived, staff lied straight to my face, saying “just 5 more minutes” — again and again. It was all lies. No one cared, no one apologized, and no one took responsibility.

They wasted my time and treated me like I didn’t matter. The staff were unprofessional and dishonest. If this is how they treat customers, they don’t deserve your business.

Do yourself a favor — never order from this place.
They’ll waste your time, lie to you, and act like it’s no big deal. This restaurant is a joke.

RUDE employees. No smile, tossing my container of pasta salad on the counter, grunting and acting extremely inconvenienced by us ordering 1/2 pound of two different pasta salads. He seemed pissed that we were even there. The cashier was only moderately better. Neither of us felt welcomed there at all, from the moment we walked in. We felt awkward shopping there. That alone makes me not want to return, but the rest of the store was disappointing. Barely any variety. It was 90% pasta and sauce. I know for sure Italians eat more than pasta. Much of the stock seemed like stuff I could get at Ralph's or Pavilion's.
The frozen prepared foods section was mostly just lasagna and ravioli. *yawn* Tried the food at home and it was nothing special. Same quality as the counter at Ralph's or any other grocery store.
Just a very marginal, lackluster, blah grocery store for it to be something that should be exciting as a country-specific international market.
This was all very disappointing, but the service alone was enough for me to say I'm not coming back.

They're not the fastest in the world, but I love the small Italian shop feel with unbelievable sandwiches!

Tom in the deli is a gem! Ihave been searching for an Italian market in South Orange County since I’ve moved here several months ago. Claro’s in Tustin was recommended to me. I went around 2 o’clock because I heard the crowds could be very big around lunchtime. I went in search of Italian roast beef like I used to get in Chicago when I was a kid. Although Claro’s did not have the Italian roast beef, I was looking for, they had so many other authentic Italian items, including a wonderful deli and refrigerated section. Tom in the deli helped my daughter and I find the Perfect salami and mortadella. I will definitely be back to Claro’s! I hope they start carrying Italian roast beef in the future!

Claro’s Italian Market has become the culinary equivalent of a retirement home with a meat slicer. What used to be an old-school deli gem is now a half-dead shell of itself, serving up dry, lifeless sandwiches that feel like they were assembled during a hostage negotiation. There’s zero pride, zero passion, and absolutely no commitment to making good food anymore. Honestly, Subway yes, the plastic-cheese, mystery-meat chain that built a career on mediocrity would be a Michelin-starred experience in comparison.

Waiting an hour for a Claro’s sandwich is like paying to be punished. You’ll spend 60 minutes surrounded by dusty dĂ©cor and deli staff who look like they gave up on life and lunch. And when your order finally limps out of the kitchen, it hits the table drier than a Mormon wedding.

If Claro’s were a movie, it’d be The Godfather: Part III—should’ve just stopped while they were ahead.

Here on a Tuesday early afternoon (off peak hours) to get an Italian sub sandwich from the deli counter. Big mistake. There were 5-6 people waiting ahead of me, but only 2-3 deli guys at the counter. One older deli guy spent 10 minutes chatting with visitors from out of state and sampling food, oblivious to his waiting customers glaring at him. I know about employees being personable, taking their time, and being chatty with customers, but not when there are 6 people in the queue! This chat went on for 10 minutes, and at the 15-minute mark with no progress in the queue, I walked out. Conclusion: if you have infinite free time, enjoy spending an hour slowly browsing through an Italian grocery store, socializing with employees, then this is your place. For the rest of us who work for a living, are on a schedule, have family time commitments, you can't afford to burn up that time standing in line like at the DMV. Never going back because I can't afford the massive time suck.
