TANAKAYA Japanese Soba Restaurant

Food was really ok, even when I arrive when it opens at 11:30AM, I got my food around 12:27PM, still almost an hour later. Not worth it imo.

Every time I come here I have to be prepared to wait 30 to 60 minutes for my food to even arrive. The food is good, but if you've come hungry it's definitely not the choice I'd recommend.

Long wait. Underwhelming food. What's not to like? if you MUST eat here based on all the glowing reviews, skip the soba sampler.

Busy lunch time, but well worth the wait. Authentic zaru soba, and buckwheat tea

I dont think udon is worth the wait here. The service is really slow and the broth does not compare to other top udon locations. I felt like the noodles were over done. I would rather drive to LA or Costa Mesa for other options.

Long wait time unless you go when it opens but delicious traditional soba for Asians if you have high expectations

Hot duck soba noodles sounded great on a cold evening and tasted even better. The duck was tender and soaked up all the flavors of the broth and the noodles were a perfect consistency. The side dishes like the mixed tempura and karaage were on the pricey side but all the portions ran large and we took a good bit of food home. I recommend everything I had tonight.

Atmosphere was nothing special but the service was quick, attentive, and friendly. Plus, I heard it’s a family-owned business and we can always support more of that!

Got a sandwich, it was fine! Pricey though. Would be cool if they had a simpler katsu sandwich for cheaper and a katsu breakfast sandwhich.

Be prepared to stay at least 2+ hours here. We waited 40 mins for our food to arrive. Karaage is delicious. Soba and the rice bowl is great.

Refused to allow me to place a to-go order while they were still open. I was willing to wait, understanding that they were busy and that it would take time. I had heard many good things about the restaurant and the service. Imagine my surprise when I arrived and was told no, even after explaining that I understood they could not seat me.

This may be the first time I've left a restaurant, not having eaten any of the food with a bad taste in my mouth. At least I didn't have to waste any money to learn this.

It’s alright.
Soba sampler was the best I’ve ever had! My favorites were matcha and ume shiso. The tempura and curry rice were average, but not bad.
