We love Chevy's! We used to go to the one in Emeryville before it closed. This time when we went we sat in the a at the bar. The bartender was rude and dismissive. Put a hot fajita plate in my hands rather than on the bar top. Also never asked if we needed anything further after getting our meal. We planned to stay for a few drinks but left after we finished dining. The food was amazing as always.
We had dinner here Saturday night and the service was somewhat poor. It felt like they were short staffed. We got our meals before our utensils. Our food ended up being cold. I dont want to complain too much because its the o ly chevys in the area.
We came in on a Saturday to celebrate my wife’s graduation, only to find they had started a new buffet—no signs, no heads-up, and way out of our budget. When we asked, we were told buffet only, so we had to leave.
A few weeks later, I tried again to take my wife on a date night. Online it said the buffet ended at 2:00 PM, but when we got there, they told us it was buffet all day—unless we sat at the bar to order off the regular menu. We had two babies with us, so that wasn’t an option. I asked to sit outside, and they seated us at a dirty table. We waited 45 minutes—no drinks, no server, nothing. We left again.
Gave it one last shot yesterday (Friday), hoping for a decent family night. Our server disappeared after the initial greeting. I ordered a chicken and steak fajita plate and got three tiny pieces of each for $30. No tortillas either. After 30 minutes of trying to get the server’s attention, I finally told him to just take the food back.
This place has gone downhill fast. It’s no longer family-friendly, the portions are ridiculous for the price, and the service is nearly nonexistent. 0/10—won’t be coming back.
Came on Father's Day. We had a reservation, so there was not much of a wait time. Food was delicious!
Sorry, forgot the name of our server! But she was Asian with a long black ponytail. Outstanding service.
The steak and shrimp platter was too salty!
Overall, the service was outstanding, and
Atmosphere was Superb.
Everything perfect
Very clean
Staff attentive
Food has good flavor
I haven't been a Chevy's in about a decade, if not longer. The atmosphere was a little drab but we were seated quickly. I chose to sit at the high top table in the cantina area. Our table wasn't exactly clean with tortilla chip crumbs scattered about, but clean enough. Our waiter was nice and attentive enough. I got the shrimp fajitas and my wife got the salmon street tacos. The food was decent; it reminds me of a Mexican Chili's, if that makes sense. The shrimp was obviously the cheap frozen kind, though I didn't expect anything else. And my fresh tortillas were oddly shaped but still tasted how I remember. Overall, it was a nice nostalgic experience but nothing that makes me want to go back. My wife really liked the chips and salsa though.
Updated review:
I came back a couple weeks later to try their new(ish) Sunday all-you-can-eat brunch buffet. My wife really wanted to go. We made reservations at 10:30, but when we arrived it was still a little empty. Towards the end of our meal more people started filling in. I don't think reservations are quite necessary but you never know.
I updated my ratings from 3 stars to 4 across the board. While I still don't care too much for their regular menu, their brunch buffet was really good. There's a ton of dishes to choose from; seafood with ceviche, fresh omelette bar, fresh tacos, and a variety of other things. They even have a kids station with fries, chicken tenders, and cereal. The drink station has fresh agua frescas, fruit infused water, coffee and hot chocolate. Unlimited mimosas are included as well as complimentary churro pancakes.
The service was really good and our waitress made sure to keep tabs on us. My previous visit was lackluster but this breakfast brunch will bring me back. I'm definitely glad I gave it a chance.
Additional note: pricing seems to vary from location to location, but our bill came out to $75.00 for two adult breakfast buffets BEFORE tax - so $37.50 per person. Google did say it was $42 per person and they don't have pricing on their website.
Came for brunch, so much choices.. my favorite was the menudo and all seafood choices
Wil be back
Great customer service and delicious food! The fajitas were so good. My mom enjoyed her taco and enchilada as well-said the carnitas was yummy:) The manager checked in on everyone which is always great to see. Our server took great care of us. Can't wait to go back for more chips & margaritas!

Even with today being Mother's Day, they did the best they could to accommodate all the patrons dining in.
My dad, brother and I took our mom to Chevys for Mother's Day. The food was delicious and the service was great. We were there after 2 pm and saw that they had like a buffet brunch. The cut off time was 2pm. The manager mentioned that it is something they will be doing moving forward. I can't remember if they will do it Saturday & Sunday or only on Sunday.
This was worst experience ever we sat down at the cantina for happy hour for good 20 minutes no one came to the table to take any order i had to go and call the server she came and took our order no one came to offer chips and salsa after the food arrived we asked for extra plates and salsa we finished our food and then the server brought them. When i asked for the bill i see she had charged us full amount not the happy hour special she said we ordered late and i showed her that two of the items u charged were happy hour special a d how come other were charged regular and we had ordered them together she went back and got it fixed but this is ridiculous the server needs to be trained over all a bad experience with customer service
I'm so glad Chevys is now taking reservations! This restaurant is always crowded on Sat night, so I'm grateful for the reservation. The food is always awesome and the chips are always yummy. The guacamole was extra good
An absolutely perfect dining experience! I visited with a group of eight friends, and from start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and efficient. Our food was cooked to perfection, and the chips and salsa were served promptly, fresh, and delicious. The highlight of the evening was the thoughtful birthday celebration, complete with a fantastic dessert and a cheerful birthday song. Every detail was handled with care, making the experience truly memorable. Thank you for an outstanding evening—we'll definitely be back!
