My sisters Margee and Linda opened and ran this restaurant and it's named after my son Zack! They sold it years ago to wonderful new owners that had worked there for years. Excellent food and service!

We had dinner tonight 10/24 @cafe zack. I made reservation for 6 pax. We seated in the patio and it was beautiful. I ordered rack of lamb (forgot to take photo). I ate every bit. We had Ceasar salad and the rest of the group ordered cowboy rib eye and fettuccine seafood curry. We had the desserts. Everything was delicious. It was our first time and cafe zack didn't disappoint us. We definitely comeback on December 26 for my birthday!

What a great dining experience! We went here for my birthday (Zack in the name being the funny semi-draw) but it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful and the service was top notch. You know when a place has a pastry chef on staff you are in for a real treat and that dessert was to die for! I highly recommend this place to everyone who is looking for delicious food at a price still affordable for the average Joe! This is fine dining in a classy, intimate setting, all without the sticker shock of some other similar establishments.

What an absolute gem! My husband and I were looking for a new place to try in Ventura and we found Cafe Zack and decided to give it a try based on all of the great reviews. Cafe Zack did not disappoint! The restaurant has a small cozy interior space, a beautiful bar area and a lovely outdoor space that can accommodate small or large groups. They even have cute little chair shaped purse hangers at each table on the patio which was such a special little touch. The wait staff are incredible. Very friendly and attentive. Thank you to our awesome server, Matt, who truly made us feel welcome. The food was excellent. We started with the split pea soup which was flavored perfectly. I had the Norwegian salmon which was cooked perfectly and included roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables. My husband had the filet mignon which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We were so full that we did not have any room for dessert but we will definitely be back again to enjoy this amazing restaurant.

Let's start with the obvious: you can drive right past this place and not even see it. It is a converted house with minimal signage, and I think that adds to the charm. Reservations highly recommended.

Now to the good and bad ... it's worth the visit but it comes at price. I had their crab cake appetizer (superb) and wild boar shank (you'll have to wait 30 minutes for this to cook), a glass of wine and their flourless chocolate cake. It set me back over $100. I WOULD GO AGAIN. Every bite was top notch. I sat indoors, but there is a small nice patio in back. Next time I'm trying their duck.

Excellent food, wonderful service, delightful location. Save room for the Zack's pie for dessert!

The food is amazing, the service was fantastic, the patio has heaters so it isn't too cold- all around this is somewhere I'll come back too. It's a little expensive but the food absolutely justifies the price tag, sooo good. They have good shirley temples and their maraschino cherries aren't your average, so good. The lobster with sweet corn was amazing.

Best restaurant in Ventura county. Hector and his staff provide a great dinning experience every time. Their outdoor patio is great along with the best Filet Mignon around.

Good food, helpful service and a casual atmosphere make Zack a winner. We enjoyed out varied dishes including the pork and pastas. Everything was good, if not outstanding. The service was professional and unstuffy. The restaurant basically has the feel of a converted house. It's cozy. We would return.

We stopped there for lunch. We made reservations as recommended but not sure if it was necessary because there was nobody else there when we got there just before noon but filled up after 12:30.

The atmosphere was wonderful sitting on a warm day in the patio. The server was very attentive to our needs.

This is a place dedicated to SLOW FOOD. Allow at least 1 hour for lunch, at least 1.5 hours if you are having a dessert.

Food was extremely well prepared and you can taste the difference in quality and careful preparation. BTW, the crab cakes are the more spiced variety.

We REALLY enjoyed the Bread Pudding which is served with freshly prepared Caramel Sauce.
