I ordered a tri-tip sandwich . Portions are big and not bad for bbq in California. 7/10.

The beans are not sweet like they used to be. The meat is not as tasty. Service is average. I prefer a different barbecue restaurant.

Easily the worst bbq place in town. Way over priced for terrible service, the potato salad and Mac salad are from Costco. For $30 you could find another place not to far away for less and way better food.

Cool old place near Saticoy and the baseball fields and golf course. Easy parking and a convenience store next door to it. Food was good! Smoky flavor and tasty sauce. Not so hot that you are wondering if it'll light your mouth up but just right. Toast was bigger than most local bbq places and serving size of Tri Tip was way bigger.

Tried this tonight and it was a little pricey. I got the 3 meat plate. The hot link was flavorful and the tri tip was juicy. The bbq sauce was a bit too sweet for me but not bad and the beans were a little under seasoned. The pork ribs were very dry and chewy.

We ordered a chicken plate, chicken sandwich and tri tip plate. Everything was very tasty. Staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean.

This place is a gem. The mild bbq sauce is pretty spicy but addictive.

I was so excited to try this BBQ place as I've been craving some tri-tip. My daughter and I got the tri tip dinner plate today and we're extremely disappointed. The tri-tip had no flavor, the mild sauce was the runniest sauce I've ever seen and also had no flavor. Both of our bread was burnt. The chili beans were just pinto beans in what looked like colored water and again, had no flavor. We both took only one bite of that before saying forget it. The only items that had flavor and deserve some sort of mention were the potato salad and the coleslaw. We won't be back. Also, no issues with the staff as the gentleman that helped me was very friendly. Just so disappointed that the food didn't match the service.

Absolutely delicious tri tip sandwich!! Small portion of coleslaw but the beans were excellent

We found Da Hickory House BBQ by searching Google for BBQ near me. While there are BBQ places in Ventura (No good ones in Ojai where we live), there really isn'ta great one that we've found, so we went here just to check it out and have eaten there twice so far.Food: The food is awesome! Ribs, tri-tip, hot links, beans, etc. BBQ not necessarily smoked BBQ which is fine with us.Price: Now that everything is expensive it's hard to say. We (2 people) pay around $50 for 2 rib plates with 2 hot links added, and cokes. Plenty of food. Both times we got to-go boxes.Atmosphere: Small, dimly lit, quiet, can be cold. It's was empty when we've went except for people there for take out.Service: Good service. A young man took our order and brought out our food. He was very polite and accommodating.I would hate to see this place close so go there and give it a chance!

Amazing flavors, and very fresh. You won’t get lukewarm food here.

Excellent flavor in the tri tip! Huge portions! My new favorite spot on the block.

This is a decent BBQ but inflation and COVID has brought the over all experience down. No regular table service encouraged, that's plane to see just by walking in. The prices are also a bit on the high side. $20+ dollars for a two meat combo and small overdone salads and beans. Hopefully when normalcy comes comes back. So will the ambience and the pricing at this location. I've never been to the Oxnard location.

Service was good but the food was just okay. Probably won’t be going back but you get a lot for your money in my opinion. The tri-tip nachos are good.
