I came in to this burger joint not expecting the food to be so delicious but it was. The friendly server with a good attitude named Josie recommended me a smash burger customized to my liking and convinced me to try a banana pudding desert. Words cannot describe how delicious and flavourful the food was! I never write reviews for anyone but Josie made the experience wonderful and the food was beyond what words can describe.

Always thrilled to eat their food. The existing vegan burger and other Vegan treats are delicious. The added vegan items were a welcome change. Always great energy and service. DjScratch spinning the ol'skool tunes is a bonus on Saturdays. The food at this happy place is exactly that happy great food. As a vegan I eat fries when there are no other choices for me...and HPE fries are the BEST! They offer food for all eaters.

Happy Place Eatery is a really fun addition to the Main Street lineup, and I’m glad I finally stopped in.
I visited for lunch as part of the Ventura Vegan Chef Challenge and appreciated that, even though they already offer a lot of vegan options, they created a special menu for the challenge. I tried the three-taco plate with the tofu filling and really enjoyed it. The presentation was great, the tacos were a nice size, and the flavors were well balanced. The two salsas on the side, one green and one more onion-forward, added a lot and made the dish even better.
Service was friendly and welcoming, and the owner/chef came out to say hello, which was a really nice touch. The space feels casual and inviting, and it’s bigger than it looks from the outside.
As a flexitarian, I can easily see myself coming back for both vegan options and non-vegan items. The fries, churro donuts, and happy hour (Monday through Friday, 11–5) definitely caught my eye too. Looking forward to going back and trying more.

Update: I appreciate the owner wanting to make this situation right. I will be returning when I get back to Ventura to get a refund on this order. At some point I will give it another chance after they have had a bit more time to work out their kinks as I was so looking forward to a good experience.
The food took over 30 minutes!!! And they were not busy either!!! We ordered garlic Parmesan bites with marinara sauce. I didn’t think the bites had enough garlic and the sauce wasn’t warm - was cold!!! The bites tasted like a loaf of bread that you buy from a grocery store. The next thing I got was the chicken tenders with fries. The chicken tasted odd. The only thing that was good was the fries. We also got a burger that turned out to be the wrong order. We also got a salad which didn’t come til 15 minutes after we got our other food. We ordered ketchup and ranch for the chicken strips when we placed the order. It wasn’t served. Had to go back and ask again. The ketchup was great!!! But on the other hand the ranch tasted like something completely different! It was too thick and it tasted like they took the ranch and smashed dill leaves in it and smashed it up it was chunky! Possibly had sour cream in it? It is Not ranch. Also charged $1 for it. Overall, I am not mad I am just disappointed. I would not come here again and I don’t recommend it to anyone.

All I can say is WOW!! We were out at the Navy Base and were craving smash burgers. Google sent us this direction and we are sooooo glad we found it! Worth the drive. We each got the Western Smash Burgers. Excellent choice! The bbq sauce has a little kick to it to add some amazing flavor (but not too much). The fries had the perfect crisp to them. And beer was cold and refreshing. Great ambiance. Loved all the t.v's on the wall to watch the football game. Really cute place to eat inside or out. Will be back here again for sure! Don't hesitate to try them out. Yummy!!!

I debated on posting this, but we went back to Happy Place again tonight and the experience was COMPLETELY different. So disappointing. The service was horrible and I ended up not even getting to eat my burger because they just couldn’t give me what I ordered. I ordered the Los Mangos again and they brought it with no Chamoy or Tajin on the rim like the other night. She remade it. They brought me a spicy burger and I had to return it. They brought my new burger and said “It was vegan, right?” Nope. They took it back and brought me another one. She apologized and said when she asked if it was vegan, she had mixed mine up with someone else’s. I started eating the third burger and it was spicy again. So my second experience would be a one star review. I might try again one day. I’ll have to see how I feel later. For now they lost me.

Original review:

We moved to Ventura about four months ago, so we’re making our way through trying all the restaurants. Tonight was Happy Place and I’m sorry I missed one day of their food. I got their Mango Cider with (Michelada style with Chamoy and Tajin on the rim). So good!!! Then I had the Happy Smash Burger and my partner got the Western Smash. Excellent burgers! Fries were really good too. The young woman working was super friendly and service was great. Can’t wait to go back.

Best veggie burger in town, I always come here when I’m craving a burger. Unlike a lot of places, they use the impossible meat still, which I strongly prefer to in-house/blackbean. And it’s reasonably priced because it comes with a ton of fries. It also seems like a cool low key bar for sports, if I was into a sport that wasn’t typically airing at 8am I would totally come here 😂

Went with my 2 kids for smash burgers and kids wings waitited over 30 minutes never got my order turns out, it was just sitting in the kitchen and even after i got my order the wings came with out fries and then the short girl with the nose piercing and wearing dogers was giving me attitude when i asked for the fries she said it comes without fires because I ordered adult wings with sauce she was distracted when taking my order and was blaming me for her mistake. Horrible attitude and after she pulled up my order, she didn't even apologize and chose to ignore me so another employee had to help me out.

Ordered food that never came. Ten people, in the whole place and the server, nor manager, could figure out how to deliver fries in under 30 minutes. Then, they stood around and had a meeting, about who was to blame for the screwup, before giving our money back. I don’t care to stand there further while you figure out that the waitress gave our food to the wrong table. Don’t take more of my time while you try and solve the mystery of two people ordered the same food.

The smashburger is good, the sauce has some kick to it and a good selection of local beers. Downside the fries were luke warm at best and tasted like they had been left out too long before they were served to somebody.
