Strange Beast is an incredible Japanese influenced bar and is really something special for the city. From the moment you walk in and see the punk posters and the different kaiju's on the walls, you know you're in for a treat. The drinks are very unique with a special take with Japanese spirits and Japanese influenced ingredients. Nick is a wonderful bartender, and truly made for a wonderful experience. From the moment you sit down at the bar, the warm welcome and just the passion he has when he is taking care of you. You truly know you are wanted at his bar. The way he truly crafts your drinks and is able to talk you through the spirits, it's a wonderful treat. Whether it be on menu or not, (if it's a slower night, because it does it get busy!) he truly knows how to craft a drink to your palate and liking! He can really make it for a special experience so I highly recommend visiting and getting a chance to visit Nick at the bar!

I feel lied to. I ordered the kaiju roll with the expectation of having a nice piece of seared salmon on top. And guess what there was lacking in the entire roll. Salmon. The server explained that the seared salmon was actually flaked salmon seared on top of the roll. Would definitely recommend not ordering this.

My recent dining experience at the the Strange Beast was very pleasant. The bartender and serving staff were very helpful and personable. 5 star! I ordered the spicy tuna roll. It had some ingredient in the rolls that was not easy to eat. I'm not sure what it was, but the roll would've been much more enjoyable to eat with julienned cucumber instead. The price of the roll was ridiculous. $17? Not worth it at all. I won't be going back.

Last visit was a Friday evening shortly after opening so I'm not sure that all of the normal staff was up and running at the time. Also customers stopping our server to ask a whole load of questions while he was on the way to get our eating utensils, and him obliging them while we wait 5 minutes + looking patiently at our food in front of us. It's not rude to say I'll be right back to help you.
