My family comes here regularly after a beach day. This weekend was the last time we will be coming here. We had come in with two toddlers and went to the very back where there was no one else sitting. The kids were enjoying the open space they had in the back dancing around. The waitress was very kind and said not to worry. She said she was glad someone was enjoying the open space. We were enjoying our meal keeping an eye on the kids when one of the bartenders very rudely told us to contain our kids that this wasn’t a playground. It totally dimmed the mood and made us ask for the check and leave before we could even finish our meal. I understand kids are difficult to deal with in this society that sees them as a nuisance. It wasn’t the fact that he said something but it was more his tone and rudeness.
Prejudice bouncers every night
My FAV place in Ventura for drinks and good vibes. Super chill, excellent cocktails and awesome food. My all time fav is Think Beautiful Thoughts mezcal cocktail, Fried Chi’n Vegan bao and fries. It’s my go to order with lots of left overs to enjoy all over again tomorrow. Plus I love that my dog is welcome too.
I Love and appreciate they still have vegan options-thank you 🙏
Good food and good beer choices. The waitress was very nice and the place has great vibes.
The skinny bartender with black long hair was very rude and unprofessional! My friend and I were waiting for a good minute in line to use the restroom and I did not see anyone come and rush the people using it. All of a sudden it’s a problem when we are in the restroom. This lady comes banging on the door like a maniac telling us to get out. I’m not sure if she has anger issues but it’s never that serious. If you can’t handle that type of job and environment then look for a different occupation. Very childish and immature of her.
Friday and Saturday nights are where it’s at! DJ’s and vibes are great!
Great service and friendly, helpful staff. The sleeper hit here for food is their French fries. I do not usually eat fries, but I can devour the ones here. They have that perfect soft inside and crispy exterior. But what really brings me to Saloon is their cocktails, Tea Party is my absolute favorite, because it is a unique drink. I love Earl Grey tea. They have the best Whiskey Sour made properly with an egg white or they used to do chickpea fava when they were vegan, which was still great. My husband will always go for the Old Fashioned made with rye.
Went into The Saloon a few minutes ago to get a beer. Another gentleman was in front of me waiting to order as well. The bartender was talking with a good looking girl sitting at the bar for about three long minutes before he noticed the other customer and myself. The customer looked at me with a "can you believe this" look. The surprised bartender then finally asked the guy, "Hey boss, you need something"? The guy ordered and the bartender continued to talk to the girl, not paying attention to what he was doing and totally slowing the service. So we bailed. Plenty of other nearby options.

This 5 stars was for the nice servers and the cocktails. We were impressed. Unfortunately we did not stay to eat but will next time.
Will definitely be coming back. Extensive and fun cocktail menu and literally the best fries I've ever had. Say no more.

Bouncer’s job is to maintain peace not to start drama. We were there on a Saturday night and our friend went to go use the bathroom, we waited off to the side for her. As the bar is closing one short, wide bouncer (who wouldn’t share his name) starts screaming in our faces to head outside, we politely respond that we will but we are waiting for our friend to make sure she is safe. The bouncer becomes enraged and starts yelling even louder and makes threats towards us. There are only like 10 people left inside the bar at this point. Our friend exits the bathroom and the bouncer continues his verbal threats even when we’re outside. This bouncer is clearly unhinged and shouldn’t be working in such an environment.

All Australians in Ventura go here. Very cool place with Vegan options and good old Avocado on toast. The Vegan Fried Chicken Bao is the best lunch I’ve had in a long time. Loved it.

They make a bunch of drinks but don’t have lime or lemon juice for mixer. Bartender said he does not lemon or lime juices and “doesn’t squeeze limes.” BASIC or bratty bartender which is it

I’m a college student from “USC” visiting with my brother. Enjoying Ventura for the first time. Decided to stop by after dinner to check out this bar at 9pm and wasn’t allowed in by the Hispanic door guy due to my university T-Shirt. Apparently they don’t allow (sports attire). I wasn’t wearing (sports attire) simply my university shirt. I’ve never experienced this. The door guy had 3 dots tattooed on his face and I asked “why? Can’t I come in?? Do you guys get university fights here or something ?” He replied “yes!.. no not really” then laughed. Avoid this spot and go to “Sol Y limón” in the corner. It’s super fun on the top floor and the staff is very welcoming and hospitable. DJ and great vibes.
