Great comfort food

The atmosphere is definitely friendly. Back to the 50s memorabilia, even the music is all 50s. I've tried the kielbasa, the ham, the steak and the tri-tip and all are amazing. Great portions, reasonable price.

Stopped in for breakfast during the week. They have plenty of specials for under $12 that are super filling and delicious. Plenty of free parking, clean restrooms. The seating is diner style; booths and tables with chairs with open room. They grill their steaks out front (smells amazing).

Food was great. Never received my chocolate shake. At least they didn't try to charge me for it.

Richie’s Diner is a quintessential old school American diner we stopped at on our route from LA to the high desert, and it delivered exactly what you’d want from a place like this. It sits right off Route 66 and you can feel that in the soul of the place.

I got the burger and fries, my wife got the chicken tacos, and we shared a banana split to finish things off. The burger was cooked well and came with tomatoes, lettuce, onion, and American cheddar cheese. The fries could’ve been better but honestly hard to complain too much when the burger is that good. My wife’s chicken tacos came with cilantro and onion, rice and refried beans, and salsa on the side.

The banana split was definitely the highlight of the meal. One banana split down the middle, three massive scoops of vanilla ice cream, strawberries, heavy on the chocolate sauce, whipped cream, two cherries, and nuts. The ice cream itself felt like quality stuff, not just your standard wholesale scoop. It also comes with pineapple by default but we asked them to hold it, so just a heads up if you’re not a pineapple fan, you may want to do the same. Apparently they do a BOGO offer on the banana splits at certain times, worth checking out.

Our server was really sweet, patient, and worked quickly. They let us sit wherever we wanted, which is always a nice touch. The booths are that classic retro blue which adds a lot to the vibe of the place. Bathrooms were clean too.

If you’re passing through and craving a good old fashioned American diner experience, Richie’s is exactly what you’re looking for.

Went there Sunday night around 7:30. There was no wait. The server was friendly. I got the sourdough double patty melt with grilled onion and a salad. The patties were really thin but the flavor was good. Hubby got half a ham and cheese stack and onion rings. The ham was flavorful and smokey and the rings were huge and crispy but if you didn't bite it well the whole onion would pull out of it. It was a good experience and an affordable price.
