The food is good quality with nice presentation. The tacos de camaron had more than 3 camarones unlike other places. The empanadas are made fresh and literally come out steaming! The service is great and quick, & they have the football games on Sundays.

What a gem in downtown Watsonville! Surrounded by a sleepy and mildly depressed downtown, Encanto is a breath of fresh air. The owner has renovated the over century-old historic hotel interior to make it a charming and modern space, while retaining the beautiful details from the hotel's hay day. The owner continues to renovate, but where it is now is a stunning preservation! While I could go on about the ambiance, I could go on as long about the food and service! The owner, Victor, is incredibly friendly, easy-going, and leads a great kitchen and team. Everyone seems genuinely happy to be there, and it shows in their customer service and flavors. The incredible and warm friendliness adds to the visit. Then, the reason for going out to eat: FOOD! They specialize in modern and elevated takes on taqueria and American diner dishes, and it is all perfect! Whether you want grilled shrimp, fajitas, or a spot-on fried chicken sandwich, it is all delicious. My little baby taste buds that have been coddled by the lack of spice in most Santa Cruz County restaurants were getting a little firey with the flavors, but they were very nice in bringing a side of sour cream to accommodate. The spice was so tasty, I would have kept going without the sour cream. The complimentary chips and tomatillo-avocado salsa are delicious, the made-in-house tortillas are the perfect texture, the grilled shrimp are caramelized and crisped to just the right amount, and all the flavors and mouthfeel of any dish are spot-on. And on top of it all, the drink selection is amazing! Local craft Mexican-style beers and Mexican imported beers are on tap, a tempting strawberry margarita, and a wide selection of bottled beers all round out an exceptional experience.

Food is delicious. We ordered different items from the menu. From shrimp, fish and carne asada. Everything was cooked fresh. They had different variety of fresh Mexican salsas. They had their grand opening and had live music. Great ambiance and family friendly. There is a public parking near by. Has plenty of restrooms. Out door and in door seating. Lots of beer choices on tap and canned. Staff was AMAZING.

Stopped on our way back from Santa Cruz. We had the shrimp cocktail, agua de Chile, and carne asada nachos. Shrimp cocktail was super fresh, came with a lot of shrimps. A lot of places don't take the time to gut the shrimp, and I get easily grossed out. But this place had clean shrimp in both dishes. Nachos weren't bad, but definitely would stick with their mariscos.
