Ranked down on atmosphere only due to single recent visit where outdoor music was WAY too loud, and the musical selections were in REALLY poor taste- especially for a family restaurant. My kid mentioned it before I did.

A much-loved West Sac institution with deep community roots and the best milkshakes around. Have been going here since 1974 when the French fries and frosty comes cost less than $1, but a recent price hike means Whitey's is now a special occasion outing rather than a weekly treat.

Ordered through their website, and ordered the grilled onion and pepper burger. Added an extra patty, their house sauce and mustard instead of mayo and ketchup - I just thought it was a very sloppy burger they assembled. For a barber of that size, didn't really think it needed all of that lettuce, onion and peppers, but they did. Honestly would give that burger a 3.8.

Had business in Davis, then had to jump onto southbound 5 for a run down to the Harris Ranch to see my pal Briggs and his little brother Stratton..the Motorheads of Coalinga.
But...and there's always a but,..I'm stopping at a Sactown favorite, Whitey's Jolly Kone for a couple of dogs and steak fries with chili on the side! Man-O-Man the burgers are Bombasticly Delicious and the peach shake in its self is worthy of a last meal...but today it was the hotdogs! Those dogs and fries pulled at me like the white whale pulled at Ahab,.

They made a great chocolate malted shake. As they are done with the peach milkshakes this time of year. Bummer. But then i had Hot fresh French fries and a deep fried burrito. Crispy exterior and hot soft interior. Taco sauce needed help or different flavor.

I love this place when I want a burger, fries and a shake. The peach shake was fabulous. The new one is Huckleberry .... sooo good
