We are speechless. The spiciness in the barbecue sauce in the orient express was well balanced, the conductor was a perfect modification on a blt, and the hot dog we had was incredible. Our friend ordered a root beer float. We don’t like root beer floats. It was delightful.

That my favorite place for food in Willits they have the best sandwichs even the vegetarian ones, I love the European style atmosphere.

Best salads and great sandwiches! Popular stop, so it can be busy. Call ahead or take a little time to enjoy. It is worth it.

Slow Down and Take the Exit! If you are reading this review you are probably on The 101 headed south to the Wine Country or North to the Redwoods, maybe even a trip to the Mendocino Coast….in any event do not hesitate to visit this charming Lunch hideaway in Willits! Excellent hospitality, great food and the ambiance are top shelf!
Thank me by posting your own review after a visit….when the highway build out created a freeway around Main Street, it has been hard on these Highway driven businesses.

First time going today, been wanting to go for a while. I got the chicken parmesan sandwich and it was the best thing I've eaten out in a while! And the staff was so nice and friendly. Definitely going back to try other stuff.

The Loose Caboose Café has a fun and nostalgic design that mimics a vintage train depot, and the patio area is undeniably charming. However, beneath the surface, there are some serious issues that made our visit uncomfortable.
First, it took 45 minutes to get two sandwiches, which is excessive — especially since the café wasn’t particularly busy. The sandwiches themselves were fine; the bread had nice flavor but was charred in spots, and overall the meal didn’t justify the long wait.
What really stood out, though, were the structural safety concerns. We noticed a pair of scissors being used to prop up a board supporting part of the roof, and there were visible brackets at butt joints on what appeared to be a load-bearing wall. The whole structure felt shaky and made the patio feel unsafe — especially if strong winds were to kick up.
It’s a unique spot with potential, but between the slow service and questionable building integrity, I left more uneasy than satisfied.

Great sandwiches and service.
The Loose Caboose cafe is, a ong with The Book Juggler, one of the best reasons to stop in Willits. Excellent sandwiches, gourmet hotdogs, and other delicious spins on classic American foods, and a clean, casual, family atmosphere. I'd give it six stars if I could.
Plus 1 ⭐️ for 🐶 dog friendly patio service‼️ Vast selection of menu items and great service. Location just off Main Street draws locals and travelers alike.
Great sandwiches
The best sandwich I’ve had in my life hand down! I will be dreaming of eating another meatball sandwich from the loose caboose cafe until I find myself back in Willits. Do yourself a favor and try their incredible food for yourself! The staff were all very friendly too!
