I just saw a sign saying ‘Pub’. That’ll do for me I thought after smashing in 6 hours driving. That was Wednesday. It’s now Saturday and I haven’t moved!
Turns out Willets is a friendly, close-knit, liberal community and the Sanachie Pub seems to be the epicentre.
The pub is geared up for live music and Wednesdays are known far and wide for a good time at open mic night.
The community spirit is so strong and outsiders like me are welcomed like long friends. Pete the owner is genuinely interested in people, he owns the pizza place over the road so food was never a problem either. The Times UK has even written an article based on the pub. I thank Pete, Kai and Ambria as well as others for being them. The kindness of strangers!
Best unseen back alley pub in Northern California. Venture down a brief walkway past a wall of flags from around the world, and you enter into a private oasis from the sounds and hustle of downtown Willits. Secluded and quiet, this location has great brews on tap, a comfy laid back vibe, with prices that aren’t wallet bending. You can order from restaurants close to the area, and bring your grub back to have an enjoyable bite while relaxing in the cool shade of the overhanging trees. Passing through Willits? Make this stop and you won’t regret it
