The carne asada meal was very bland. Tasted like it was only seasoned with salt and nothing else.

5 Stars – Authentic, Flavorful, and Friendly!

El Gallo Negro is a hidden gem in Windsor! From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed with warm hospitality and the mouthwatering aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine. The food is consistently fresh and packed with flavor — their tacos and enchiladas are a must-try, and the house-made salsas are the perfect complement to every dish.

The portions are generous, the pricing is fair, and the service is always friendly and attentive. You can tell the team takes pride in what they do. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a full meal with friends or family, El Gallo Negro never disappoints. Highly recommended for anyone craving real, delicious Mexican food in Sonoma County!

Amazing Mexican cuisine and drinks! You must try the mole — a rich, traditional dish originally from Oaxaca, Mexico. The chef is also from Oaxaca, bringing authentic flavor to every bite. The micheladas are the best around, and don’t miss the house mezcal — it’s exceptional.

My wife and I enjoy dining here immensely. The quesabirras are to die for and though I don't have a picture of one... The micheladas are right there too! (According to my daughter)

Great Value!!! The chips are served warm and the salsa is delicious! Because of the chips and salsa, I could only eat half of my Chimichanga and therfore had lunch the next day too!!

The food was amazing - quite authentic. The mole was delicious. Nice presentation and ample serving sizes. Affordably priced and attentive, but not intrusive, service. We'll be back!!

You have to try the molcajete! It had a really good flavor. And ask for the habanero salsa that goes perfectly with it. Also, the mole has an authentic taste. I ordered the margaritas flight to go with my dinner. My favorite was the coconut one.

Very small quesadillas and with only 1 sauce, they do not give pico de gallo, they give 1 paper napkin per person, very stingy and the portions are small, their level is very low

Really enjoyed the food and drink. Nice selection of Mezcal. Reasonable prices. I had the mole enchiladas - great!

Food was terrible. My husband ordered the mole chicken and had to send it back because it was so hard it was inedible.

Best of both worlds, amazing indoor patio, indoor and drive through. Food is great too. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly, they do have some that rush you if your just eating light and not drinking.
