It's always a blast stumbling upon a hidden gem in Sonoma County's endless parade of top-notch eateries – and Windsor doesn't skimp on the good stuff. After getting the lowdown from pals and the ever-reliable Sonoma County Foodies group on Facebook, we roped in some close friends who are basically walking encyclopedias on grub and vino to tag along for the ride at Grata. Man, were we in for a treat – no letdowns here! The grub was spot-on Italian with that Cali twist, and the staff? Total pros, always one step ahead without hovering like awkward shadows. Barbie (my better half) and I kicked things off with the Caesar salad – crisp, zesty, and zero regrets. Then came the grilled octopus, tender as can be and grilled to perfection without turning into a rubbery disaster. We split the goat cheese raviolis, which were dreamy... until I realized they snuck in truffles. My bad for not reading the fine print – those things taste like fancy soap to me! If you're one of those poor souls who thinks cilantro is the devil's herb (raises hand), you'll get my wide-eyed surprise. Lesson learned: scan for sneaky ingredients next time. We wrapped up with a slice of cheesecake that was solid, if not earth-shattering – hey, can't win ‘em all, but it hit the sweet spot after that feast. Our buddies brought a killer bottle of Bacigalupi Winery's Fondare red blend, which paired like a dream and had us all toasting to more nights like this. Grata's got that cozy neighborhood vibe nailed – we'll be back for round two, hopefully truffle-free!

Our server was attentive and delightful and the food was absolutely delicious!! My daughter raved about the Spicy Clams and Bucatini and she had never had Steak Tartare before and it was fantastic!!

Another excellent dining experience. The salmon carbonara special was delicious, and the string beans had incredible flavor. We ordered off menu for the gnudi with vodka sauce and pork sausage - excellent again. We will be coming back, yet again.

My husband had the smoked salmon special. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered the hangar steak and it was delicious. The sauce over the meat and crispy potatoes was the best. Also we had the focaccia bread as an appetizer and it was done perfectly tonight. We will definitely be back again.

This is a great restaurant. I had the Caesar salad to start, followed by the spicy clams. It was excellent. I am looking forward to going back. The ambience was nice but not overdone. It felt authentically Italian. High recommendation.

Grata's is our favorite Italian restaurant. We loved the special salmon carbonara pasta as well as the special winter salad, along with the delicious focaccia, and other sides. I highly recommend it!

Excellent food and service. The food reminded me of my meals in Florence and Bologna. Service was friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back!

We ate here last night and were extremely disappointed. On our way home we had to stop because my wife got sick; and I ended up buying Pepto Bismo for myself due to a sick stomach. We unfortunately cannot recommend.
My wife ordered a steak with roasted sweet potatos. The steak was soaked in an uneatable cheese sauce and the potatos were not roasted, they were deep fried. My wife also got a cesear salad that came with extremely fishy anchovies and lettuce that was not very fresh.
I ordered their lobster special with gnocchi and mushrooms. There was very little lobster in the dish. I started to get a sick stomach about 15 minutes after dinner.
We also ordered the garlic bread, which was slathered in a tasteless butter and herb concoction. We didn't eat it. I ordered an ice tea. I'm not sure if it was old tea or made with tap water, but it had a terrible flavor. I didn't drink it.
The service was decent our waitress was friendly and our bus boy was very attentive. However, neither of them questioned the full glass of tea or my wife's full plate of food or the uneaten garlic bread.

Went there once never again I don’t know why but I felt discriminated in that restaurant, they gave me my food but the food was cold cold, told the waitress that the food was cold then brought back the food warm but my food ended up being salty like really salty. I wasn’t able to eat it, I felt like the restaurant didn’t want me to stay there that long. I just felt I was very discriminated because of my race, I felt like they purposely made my food cold and extremely salty.

Unfortunately as a Friday night birthday dinner, it was so loud that we could barely carry a conversation. The food was mostly great except when they brought the gluten free clam pasta. For a ~$30 dish, it was a bowl of disintegrated gluten free pasta with a few clams served with a spoon. Super disappointing. I used to come here during the pandemic and the food was excellent. The ambiance and food accommodations were so poor and over priced that I likely won't go back.

Dinner at Grata was such a great experience. The food was excellent, the ambiance was nice, and the service was great; they actually pay attention when you make a note on your reservation as we were there celebrating my better half's birthday and multiple staff members wished him a happy birthday which made it that much more special. If you are looking for quality Italian food with wonderful service, I highly recommend Grata.

Grata is one of our favorite places for date night or family night. Everyone of the staff are so friendly and make us feel like part of their family. The food is always soooo good. Chef Eric does an amazing job and love his specials he changes up. Cannot recommend Grata more. You will love everything you try.

Outstanding as usual. We have been there three times since moving to Windsor California and they have never missed our expectations. Also have a great happy hour.

This is our second time at this local restaurant. Parking is easy behind the building. We were seated quickly for our reservation in a back table, where we enjoyed a quiet conversation for a while, until a noisy group was seated in teh larger entry area. No attempt has been made to ameliorate the noise level (drapes, ceiling fabric, etc.). Nevertheless, we enjoyed good service and good food. The wine by the glass is very nice, as well. Also, on Open Table I had mentioned that our guest was celebrating a birthday. No one noted this at the restauant in any way. Disappointing. We will try the place again, hoping to find a quiet night.
