Interesting wine flight. I just wanted a Jackass Hill Zinfandel.
Lovely property with well designed private tasting rooms and fantastic historic woodwork. The chardonnay game here is very strong. But we enjoyed everything we tried.
We didn't have reservations (Friday around 4pm) and it was later in the day so we weren't sure what to expect. Then, Jason stole our hearts! We were greeted warmly, and felt immediately welcomed and at home. Jason was very knowledgeable and friendly and made sure we got a couple of splashes before we committed to a glass for purchase. Jason gave us additional recommendations for spots in the area, which helped us get in to two locations we might have otherwise had trouble making appointments at. Came to try the wine; stayed for Jason! Thank you!
Not as friendly as other wineries and very regimented. These are the wines you will try no matter what your tastes are, while other wineries are much more adaptable. The wines are very variable in quality. The first three I would not drink. Odd flavored harsh rose followed by two over baked chardonnays. The first pinot was very light drinkable but for the price there are lots of better wines. The zio tony pinot is nice and pricier. The zinfandel was the best. Overall very disappointing and convinced us to not recommend or buy there wines. The wines were much better when Helen Turley was the wine maker.
Big thank you to Carolyn for the fantastic introduction to the Martinelli family and wines! Best guided tasting we’ve been on yet + the wines were pretty great, too!
Loved our wine tasting experience. All around amazing staff, they were friendly and very knowledgeable. Brian was fantastic, he made sure to make this the highlight of our weekend getaway. I would absolutely recommend.
Great tasting! Julianna was so nice and Informative. Such a great atmosphere and great wine!
My girlfriend and I were heading back to Santa Rosa from an earlier breakfast in Occidental and a later drive to the coast. And decided to do some wine tasting. Not having a reservation we were limited to tasting inside. However, we were treated warmly and professionally by Sarah! She provided us with some wonderful knowledge of Martinelli Wines along with some excellent varietals that we thoroughly enjoyed. We took home a couple of bottles of the 21' Russian River Pinot Noir and the 22' Zinfandel! I really enjoyed the Zinfandel. But I was also enamoured with the colorful retro label from 1880! We will definitely be back!!
Martinelli Winery is my wife and I's favorite winery to visit in Sonoma County! So much so that we joined their wine list recently and have been loving every minute of it! Absolutely do not worry if you are new to the wine experience, their staff is more than willing to share their knowledge with you! We went on a Sunday for our first ever visit to wine country and we met Judy, one of their staff who took well over 45 minutes to an hour with us in order to give us an education about wine! She really helped open up my palate and it has been downhill for my wallet ever since. One of my biggest concerns about visiting a winery in CA was that I would be looked down on for being wine ignorant but I have never felt that way at Martinelli's Winery. We have always felt welcomed and at peace when we are with their staff! I cannot recommend this winery enough. Thank you for always giving us a fantastic experience!
First time visit to the winery and may I say our host Carson made it a memorable one!
Restaurantji Recommends
Literally came in santa rosa from calistoga to have good breakfast while on vacation from Denver. Looked up this winery ( totally shot in the dark) , arrived to the site and was immediately welcomed with open arms as a walk in. The tasting was fantastic, the tasting hosts were very fun, nice, and educational. Getting to know the background on the family really made me appreciate the process/ culture of wine making. I absolutely fell in love with their zinfandel. Highly recommend coming here for a relaxed experienced. I never had a wine membership before. I felt it was worth having them as my first. I look forward to seeing everyone at martinelli again on my next visit there soon. Please give this place a try! You won't regret the experience
We did the Collectors tasting and it was a fantastic experience! The wines are all superb! We bought a few and joined their wine club. Linda was an excellent host for our tasting.
