I usually love eating at Neiman Marcus-Who doesn't appreciate the friendly greetings and the complementary bouillon and popover? But today's meal was lacking... and the decor was meh. It is the holidays! It is NM! I expected more spiff but maybe it is me not the Store?
We used to visit the NM Cafe in Chicago before moving to Calabasas, California. The difference between the two is night and day. The attitude in Calabasas is sky-high, but the service and quality are far below expectations. We’ve visited this location three times, and each experience has been worse than the last.
Despite having reservations, we’ve had to wait to be seated, even with plenty of open tables, which is ridiculous. We've seen only two or three waitstaff, all of whom are clearly overworked and serve with visible frustration. Our orders consistently arrive late and cold—even the soups. On our most recent visit, they didn’t bring their usual consommé and popovers. After waiting 20 minutes, we asked about it, and they told us they were out. They could have at least apologized or mentioned this when seating us—it’s a matter of professionalism.
Additionally, a couple of items we ordered never arrived, and by that point, we saw no point in complaining. We just paid and left. Oh, and the place was dirty and untidy. Who’s in charge of this dump?! Spare us the attitude, NM. You have nothing to justify it.

I come here periodically with several special friends. However, due to NM management’s decision to delete any reference to Christmas from the new catalogue, I will no longer be supporting Neiman Marcus in any way.
Been a there a few times and always love the respite the outdoor space offers. And today, we had a truly outstanding waiter taking care of us outside. People think Neiman's is expensive, but the cafe is a steal!
It's a pleasant lunch as usual except when a bigger group comes in, it becomes a bit noisy otherwise everything was perfect.
We had a very nice birthday lunch and the waiter was excellent. I told him it was my friend's birthday and at the end of the meal, he brought a chocolate chip cookie with a candle.
Hit and miss lunch. Tuna tartare was excellent and was a large portion. And the popovers are such a lovely touch. They are complementary. That was fabulous. The service was also excellent. Appreciated it. But the special Asian salad of spinach and grilled chicken was dreadful. Dried out chicken sitting on a small and uninspired salad.
We go here for the delicious popovers! We were very disappointed that they were having a problem with them and they served us some that weren't good and then said they couldn't make them anymore. The rest of the food was excellent but couldn't make up for the lack of popovers!
This is my go-to for small group meetings and casual lunches. The service and food are usually outstanding, but a bit off yesterday. It happens. Still a favorite, and I'll be back!
I was assisted by Knarik Vardanyan from woman’s perfumes. She is amazing. Her customer service is so genuine. She knew exactly what I wanted it and she took great care of me. I was so impressed. Thank you Knarik ?

Ambiance isn't great - they have an outdoor patio that looks nice but it was too cold to sit outside. Consume and popovers are very good. Had a seafood salad with hardly any seafood - price was high. Service was just OK. Don't think I would go back.
What happened to NM Cafe? Lunch yesterday ordered a Pomegranate Paloma and it comes out clear, no flavor at all. Soda water. Sent it back and had a Cosmopolitan. Ordered the Turkey club with fries. It took 45 minutes to get our sandwich and then the it was cold, bread wasn’t toasted, replaced Swiss cheese with cheddar. The sandwich was awful. We weren’t asked how the food wasn’t and I think I know why. He knew it was bad. Thank goodness for the fries and the chicken broth. We loved going there for lunch and a cocktail while shopping. The food was outstanding and the service impeccable but sadly that is no longer the case and yesterday was our last time. The best service came from the busser.

Lovely spot in NM. Always great service, and food is delicious and options interesting and varied. It is pricey, but that should be expected. Hardest thing is finding parking. Never packed full (at least the several times I've been there). Attentive but not overbearing service.
I enjoyed my Chicken Salad for lunch. I dined with 2 other friends. One of my friends got the Salad Trio and liked it. Her only comment was that it needed more salad dressing. My other friend enjoyed all the flavors of her Harvest Salad. The service was excellent! I would recommend the NM Cafe at Neiman Marcus!
This was my first time dining at NM Cade. Everyone was very friendly and very professional. I like that they worked together. The salad was very good, and my friend enjoyed the sandwich trio. The waterfall they created outside is quite lovely.
