We got 2 smothered burritos and they were sitting in water. The green chile was more like a clear soup than the usual consistency.

I'm sorry, but that was the most atrocious Mexican food we have ever had. The staff was so nice & the service was fast and I feel bad even writing this review but if I could save somebody the hundred dollars we just spent, I'm going to try. The green chili had entirely too much cumin and was so watery. There were large pieces of pork in it, but it was just like pork floating in water with too much cumin. Also, I have never eaten green chili that was made with bell peppers. I would absolutely try any other Mexican restaurant. Everything is so expensive including food so wasting it on a meal like that is just CrAzY! I'm sorry Monterrey House. I'm not trying to be mean or rude just honest.

I traveled from New York to Colorado to celebrate my aunt’s 85th birthday — and to track down some truly good Mexican food. On her recommendation, I visited this place and was blown away by the authenticity and flavor of the meal. I ordered a cheese enchilada and a tamale, and both were outstanding — freshly prepared from scratch with their own ingredients and served piping hot within minutes of sitting down.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner and head waiter, who treated us as if we were their most valued guests. Their hospitality was so
genuine, and the food and service were exceptional.

It’s easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. If you find yourself anywhere near Denver, this restaurant is an absolute must.

Came to Colorado from Maine to share in my sister’s 85th birthday celebration and to find a decent Mexican restaurant. On her recommendation I had an excellent meal of authentic Mexican food that was absolutely delicious in all respects. My choice was a beef burrito with green chili sauce. It was excellent, all hand cooked with all their own ingredients, and served hot I just minutes from sitting down. We met Freddy, the owner and Nelson, his chief waiter. They made us feel like the most important people in the world while we were dining. I was so impressed with their true hospitality, that I returned the following evening with my son and his family. The same great quality food and service was happily repeated. Definitely the most positive dining experience I have had ever! Absolutely a necessary destination if you are in the Denver area.

I recommend this place. This is some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. Services fantastic. Served hot. Within minutes, boom, my food is right in front of me. They have burritos tostadas tacos omelette green chili tortillas you name it they got it.

The owner is fantastic. Family owned restaurant.

One of my favorite stops.

I don't like to give bad reviews. But neither do I like throwing away my hard earned money on awful food. This was maybe the worst burrito I've ever eaten. A heaping of unseasoned ground beef wrapped in a tortilla soaked in water with a few chili chunks on top doesn't qualify as food, Mexican or otherwise. I'm serious when I say this takes the spot as the worst burrito I've ever eaten. Show some respect, if not to your customers, at least to the food. Ugh...no, double ugh

My family and I have been dining at Monterrey House since the 90s. We love the classic recipes and the waiters and staff are always so nice. Thank you for keeping the recipes the same over the years. We love it!

I crave your salsa and smothered Bean Burritos regularly.

Kid-friendliness: The waiters and staff are always so kind and respectful.

Best mexican I've ever had. Ate here weekly when I lived in CO & is still a "must" whenever I visit CO now. Drove 1 hour today just to eat here & enjoyed a smothered bean burrito w/lettuce, tomato, & cheese. Food is still as great as I remember it.

Fast, friendly, affordable, and fresh food every time. We like to take our family here when they visit and it’s always a hit.

Vegetarian options: There’s a nice lunch special that’s vegetarian - a salad, a queso thing, and a guac thing. So satisfying
