EDIT: Love the owners response and would be happy to give this another try if I can make it back over to Aurora.
Beware if you have dietary restrictions. I ordered the Vegan Pate Banh Mi and was told they were out of baguettes and was asked if it was ok on a croissant. It took my partner asking, after I agreed, to confirm that the croissants are also vegan, and they said no. So they were going to substitute the vegan sandwich onto non vegan bread and not say anything

We ordered a bunch of Bahn Mi sandwiches for the office and Thoa even personally delivered them to ensure everything was correct. The sandwiches were super fresh and delicious along with an incredible ube crepe cake for dessert. In today’s economy feeding 30 people for under $500 is a very good deal. Look forward to ordering again.

Coming from someone that usually prefers to make my own coffee beverages, the Pandan Cream Coffee was magical. It was the perfect treat!

I had never had Banh Mi before, and quite frankly never had the desire to try. This place has changed my mind forever. I throughly look forward to returning.

Bomb, really good crusty chewy bread. Can’t really beat that
Cupcakes were awesome too. Fun flavors and nice and moist. With a lighter frosting

I stopped by here for the first time looking for a simple breakfast sandwich and was pleasantly surprised! I tried the breakfast croissant with fried egg, cheddar, and garlic aioli. It was really good! I think it would’ve been even better with bacon, but still hit the spot as is. The cafe itself is a neat little spot, they also sell art and plants which gives it a unique vibe. They were out of quite a bit of their pastries and the display was nearly empty so I definitely plan to visit another day.

So so good!! We ordered 4 of the pastries and they were all amazing. We need more people like Thoa running businesses here in Denver!

Had a great experience here.Got the chicken banh mi (got there late in the day or else I would have gotten the pork but it was all sold out). It was very tasty and the bread was light and flaky as it should. The coffees we got were good too (I got the cold brew with ube foam). The side of potato salad we got was really small and probably not worth. Decor and plants are super cute. Def would stop back here again!
Update, came back and was not a fan of the cupcaked and employee had a bad attitude. YMMV

Nice bakery in an area along E Colfax with a number of interesting murals on the buildings. The pastries are very good especially the ham & cheese croissant and the raspberry danish. Some of the pastries are quite artistic. In addition, they have good bahn mi sandwiches. The coffee is okay.
Service was fast, friendly and informative. The space itself has nice seating and art on the walls for sale some of which was interesting.
There is a parking lot behind the store with an entrance off the lot.

Two years ago, I had served as Associate Producer, Assistant Director, and Videographer on a documentary film about the NW Aurora community titled “America’s Hidden Gem: Northwest Aurora” (now streaming for free on Rocky Mountain PBS, heyooooo!).
Banh & Butter at this time had been open for a couple years and its owner, Thoa Nguyen, had already established herself as a bit of a celebrity in the community and as such we had sought her out to be one of our interview subjects for the film.
(Enclosed with this review are some BTS photos from the documentary. Enjoy!)
Thoa’s, and B&B’s, stellar reputation can be attributed to a few different aspects of their overall business.
First and foremost, the food: It’s outstanding. Phrases I’ve heard from people after biting into food from this bakery include “Immediately life changing!” and “I think this just changed my brain chemistry” and the probably the most common response: “Oh my GOD”. If you’ve never been here before, I think the strawberry croissants are the default thing to try first, but my personal favorite of their offerings is the Lemongrass Grilled Pork sandwich served on a croissant.
Also NW Aurora is a registered arts district, but regrettably it is a bit underserved in that category and there are few places within the community for artists to display their work. But B&B is one such place! And they allow local artists to not only display their art on their walls, but also advertise them for sale *all while* taking no cut of commissions from the artists. Being that my wife and I purchased a home in NW Aurora partially due to its registered arts district designation, this act of community support means a great deal to me on a personal level and I think it should be highlighted more often.
Finally, having worked with owner Thoa Nguyen as a filmmaker on our documentary, having been a repeat customer of B&B, and running into her at a few community events around town, I can say that she is a genuinely kind and caring person, and that this sensibility really permeates her entire business and team. B&B employees are clearly very happy being at B&B and take great pride in their craft.
B&B is an incredible place, and it’s done a tremendous amount of heavy lifting in raising awareness of the positive aspects of the NW Aurora community. If you’re ever visiting NW Aurora to check out our outstanding food scene it’s *essential* that you add it to your itinerary.

This place is great! Full of delicious bread and so many unique flavors. We got the apple tart and the blackberry Ube cake along with a few lattes. The apple tart was good decent flavor would have probably been even better if it was warmed up for us, but the star was the Ube cake! The blackberries, Ube cake, and cream frosting worked so well together every bite was perfect and well balanced. I also really enjoyed all the local art the was for sale and the plants they had on display (also for sale but needed some TLC). The negative i had was the gal that helped us was a bit snobby and not very welcoming. We showed up a little more than an hour before closing and we were the only customers in the shop. She tried discouraged us from ordering lattes and said they would be over 10 minutes for her to prepare them. This was odd to me since we were the only two customers in the shop. She also seemed very annoyed to answer my questions about the different baked goods and art, in her defense i did have a few more than i usually would since it was my first time. Also every single table was dirty not sure if she just had a rush, but i couldn’t see any reason for her to be so busy while i was there. I was a little confused why she didn’t ask the others in the back for help if she needed it. We weren’t in a hurry so we waited. I really wanted some coffee to go with my pastries. I looked past the crappy service since i enjoyed the baked good so much, hopefully this isn’t a regular way they do service here.

The amount of food coloring that goes into their baked goods is insane. My teeth were stained for a few hours and even my toothbrush was stained. Eventually they came off. Their Ube and Thai iced tea things were prone to staining and I was shocked when I tried to wash the dishes, water became neon purple. Why would you use so much coloring when your baked goods already taste good? So annoyed.

Food is good, according to my Asian wife. Deserts are very tasty (according to me!)
Mostly a carry out or small catering place but does have a few tables.
