La Costera has the best charcoal chicken in Denver! We ordered take out of a whole grilled chicken(flavorful), it was good. Great place for a quick bite. The whole grilled chicken is good. This was the best chicken tacos and flautas we have ever had. Highly recommended!

There are a few options for grilled mexican chicken in this area with Pollo Loco being the more popular option. La Costera is an option that not a lot of people know about but they should not be overlooked. I have tried different places in the area and I will say that La Costera is my favorite!Location is not so inviting. Located in a small strip mall, I can easily see how one could feel unsafe picking up and/or eating here. But I challenge anyone to not judge a book by its cover. Just follow your nose and your heart and stomach will be satisfied. La Costera is a hole in a wall joint. They seem to be family owned and the flavors that come out of these chickens taste like they are a happy family that takes pride in their cooking. They have the grill setup at the front so you know what you are getting yourself into by just smelling what they cooking! It is so easy to over indulge because you can't help but have your stomach do the ordering for you! I always order their chicken meals but have also tried their tacos. Their grilled chicken is so flavorful and juicy! Not once have I had a bad meal here. I will say that if you are on a diet or trying trying to eat healthy, this place isn't for you. Because every delicious bite will force you to over indulge. But I guarantee you, you will also feel oh so right! English isn't their strong talking language. They have one lady that speaks good english but if she's not available, you can still communicate with them. Just don't expect to have deep conversations with them. Aside from that, service has been awesome! I've dined in a few times but there are only like 4 tables here so it won't be a surprise if there isn't any seating available during busy times.

Best grilled chicken in Denver. Always very flavorful and tender. Sides are also very good

Very authentic pollo asado style meal. Which was exactly what we were looking for. The staff was the friendliest, most attentive and gracious. They said they do a lot of take out service, but we ate our meal there and it was wonderful. Good salsas.

The chicken burrito is my favorite, in my opinion better then Chipotle or Qdoba. The service is always AMAZING and they even stayed open late because they knew I was on the way. The food is always fresh and they aren’t stingy. My absolute favorite place to eat!!!!!

Ok this place is definitely a dive hole in the wall. The outside windows have steel bars, the inside looks kinda dirty, the tables and chairs are all over the place, some put up and some down. The cashier was nice. I played it safe and got one of each type of taco. If Yelp would only allow different ratings for the food...the tacos were fantastic! So tasty and a lot of meat. My favorite was the barbacoa but the chicken and steak tacos were also so good! And cheap at only $2.50 each. Almost makes me want to give 4 stars for the food! If you don't care about the looks, then definitely stop by for the food

Been wanting some real grilled chicken for a while! Something char grilled type of meat! This place says they're the best chicken in Denver so I had to check it out. Pretty good, comes with beans, salsa, rice and tortillas

Went to La Costera based on the Yelp pictures, the food looked sooo good. Ordered a quesadilla plate and a enchilada plate. The quesadilla tortilla was hard as a rock and barely had any cheese in it. The enchilada plate ummm was just not good. The enchiladas were dry. The rice was plain and tasted like nothing but cumin. The food was too expensive not to taste good. Enchilada plate was $14.99 and the Quesadilla plate was $13.49. I will definitely not be returning.

Don't be fooled by the outside. This place is the real deal. The chicken was just outstanding. The rice was authentic. And the salsas were a perfect compliment. $25 feeds a family of 4 GO !!

The chicken was dry. The chicken wings were dry and chewy. The rice is mushy. The beans have no flavor. The seasoning on the chicken was good but the chicken was soo dry. The carne asada was tough and full of grissel. I do not recommend

I just don't understand all these great reviews. We came to this place because of all the reviews. The seasoning was good however, the chicken was the driest grilled chicken I have ever had!!!!! The chicken wings were sooo dry and very chewy. The carne asada was tough and full of grissel!!! The rice was mushy as hell the beans had no flavor!!!! The salsa was practically water. Honestly a 1 rating is too much.

This is a classic hole in the wall, but the food is fantastic and that's what counts, right? The grill is outside the front door and the flavor it imparts on the whole chicken is spot on. Combined with the tortillas, rice, beans, pickled red onions, and roasted jalapeño make this a complete meal for the family with leftovers to spare. All for about $30!
