Greasy, greasy, greasy. The salsas were great. The chips were inedibly greasy. The empanadas were greasy and over fried. The rice was dried out. There was live music that started after we sat down (otherwise we would have left)... it was like a bad night of karaoke, and awfully loud.

Good atmosphere and perfect for a date. Cozy and quaint. Staff was nice. Our server didn't seem to know everything about the menu however might have been due to the holidays and experienced staff wasn't around. Food was good and they had unique options. My wife has mole and I had the ropa vieja. Both were good but she liked my dish more. The plantines that came with our dinners were perfect for our desert. The red sangria was awesome. I had the Pobrecito Margarita which was also good. Would come for sure.

Everything you want in a restaurant and more! The food is outstanding and true to its roots. The service is friendly, knowledgable and accomodating. The ambiance is casual but chic. The prices are moderate but worth every bite!

Amazing place and great food. The house margs taste great. Get either the steak or thin cut ribeye tacos. Awesome place.

Can I give 2.5? Good effort but the food is really average. I would have loved for this to be better as I am from South Florida and love Latin American food. I find this to be more of an average Mexican restaurant with a few south/central American items on the menu. I also found it a bit pricey for the level of quality. Good concept but they should commit more to the Latin American (not Mexican) menu, improve the quality and lower the prices.

I order food from here probably about twice a month. Consistently good and fairly priced for the portion size. Food is always ready for pickup and the people are friendly and speedy during my pickup. Never had to wait long

Amazingly delicious!! You definitely have to call me and try this place out!! Order the chicharrones and any of the quesadillas!! The mojitos are the best I have had in this area... great pre-date place before the movie!!

Delicious and unique Latin American food that you won't find elsewhere in the area. Great atmosphere.

I've walked past Platea many times, never really giving going in much thought. How wrong I was! The vibe of the restaurant is great, the wait staff is excellent, the drinks were phenomenal, and the food was delicious. I had a Caipirinha and my boyfriend had a Watermelon Agua Fresca Marg with a chili salted rim. Both of them were insanely good... none of the alcohol "bite" you get sometimes in these drinks. We had the Esquite appetizer which was so flavorful, and the fish tacos and Cocktail de Camaron for dinner. The portions were surprisingly big, and we couldn't finish either! You'll definitely get your moneys worth here. The one bad part of the meal was the avocado guac / salsa. It had kind of a funny taste - like the store bought pre-made stuff with preservatives. I have a feeling this isn't made to order (which it should be). If they would fix this, Platea would be perfect. Due to the friendly staff, pleasant ambiance, and yummy food, you should give Platea a try!

Finally ate here! Spectacular! A mix between way southern Mexico and South American food! Chips and dip extra, but homemade and worth it. We had tacos, flautas and sopas. Sopas filled with pork. Pork tacos, made with homemade corn tortillas. Three huge chicken flautas. Amazing rice!

I wanted so bad to be in love, but alas, it stopped at "like" for me. The decor and vibe is wonderful. With live music when we were there, very nice colors, lighting, and an open layout, the atmosphere is excellent. The service was also very good. When the chips and salsa came out, I was pleased. The chips were fantastic! Unfortunately, the wow stopped there. The food was nothing to rave over, especially for the price. I had the Carne en su Jugo, which was good but the portion size was smaller than I would have hoped and there was not a lot of meat in it. My daughter had the Cocktail de Camaron. This was probably our least favorite dish and for $18, it was underwhelming. She loves shrimp and didn't even finish it. The sauce really overwhelmed the dish. Other orders in our party included a kids' quesadilla which was fine and probably the only thing I think was a really good value. The other two in our party had tacos, which were good but again, nothing amazing. So... like? yes. Love? Sadly, no.

The first time we tried Platea we sat outside on a surprisingly cold day and essentially where forgotten. After waiting 6 months we tried it again and were very annoyed with ourselves for waiting so long. The food is diverse and amazing. It's not Tex Mex so don't come expecting food drenched in sauce. Try the churros. Normally I don't care for them but here, they are God's gift to the people of Aurora.

Overly priced, overly priced, did u mention overly priced? The food was...meh. It's hard to want to give it good stars when you are so overwhelmed by how much you spent. That seems to be the problem with any restaurants in the Southlands Shopping Center, these poor places have to make up for it my over pricing their food. The owners were nice and super friendly and it makes me feel bad giving them this score but looking at the food I'm just not impressed especially when my in-laws are Hispanic and we eat lots of Latin Food.

This is a cute boring little Mexican restaurant conveniently located ar the Southlands Mall on the way home from the Denver airport. I probably wouldn't return since bf had a serious tummy ache for 2 days.

We visited Platea tonight for Cinco de Mayo. The inside is small, but has nice authentic Latin flare. We had a table outside on the front patio. The service was very good. Our server and the manager checked on us frequently to make sure we did not need anything. I had the Ropa Vieja which I though was very good. It came with fried plantains that were amazing. My husband had chicken and black bean tacos which he said were "fine". Our daughter had the kids quesadilla plate which she seemed to enjoy. We also ordered their guacamole and chip appetizer which was fresh and delicious. My only complaint is that Platea really is priced high for the food. We decided to go because we purchased a Groupon and it was still very pricey for what we got. Not sure I would frequent this spot because of the value. Maybe occasionally.
