I went for the first time at approximately 8:30am on a weekday and they were out of half or more of their selection. The apple fritter is normally my go-to for a rating, but they didn't have any. I ordered a bear claw instead, which is a solid representation of their raised donut, plus a deeper insight based on the filling. But, alas there was no filling at all. No almond paste, no apple pie type filling, nothing with raisins or cream or cinnamon. Essentially I paid $4 for a raised donut shaped like a bear claw with a faint dusting of cinnamon at each cut. I just happened to be in the area and thought I'd finally give them a try, but I can't say my first experience gives me any desire to give them a second shot.

I’m from Houston, home of Shipley’s, and have been so homesick for their glazed and kolaches — too bad they’re across town. Just heaven. SHIPLEY — Need to come to southwest Denver stat!!!

Very disappointed. My first time here. I was hoping to get several different donut holes but i didn't see any so I asked if they had any and they only had glazed. The person behind the counter said they were in the back. So I ended up getting 4 donuts. One was a Bavarian filled but it was completely empty. No filling at all. Then I got a Cookies N' Dream filled and again - NOTHING at all on the inside. Unfortunate and disappointing as my first time. Although i will give credit where credit is due - the employee working the counter was VERY friendly. Kudos to him!

Donuts look great and the dough part is tasty. Not enough chocolate iced thickness for me, could be the batch. Really disappointed the "white fluff" is marshmallow which is odd in a donut. Didn't try much more but will update because I’ll try again and maybe have a different experience. Disappointed they don't offer a "no meat" Kolache which is why I tried the place.

These donuts are light and fluffy, and the icing on top is creamy and melts in your mouth. I won’t eat a donut unless it’s from here. Tastes exactly like home.

Kolaches tasted as if they were a couple days old. Stale and inedible. Donuts are average. Nothing to get excited about. Had Shipley’s in Houston and was expecting the same. Far from it.Best part was the service. The young lady that helped me was very very friendly.Personally, I won’t go back but worth a try. Maybe you will have aDifferent experience.

Donuts were average at best, and the kolaches were pretty weak. But I’m also from Texas, so I have much higher standards for kolaches. Not surprised because this is just how Shipley’s are, but the guy at the front was awesome and with this place only being 10 minutes away, worth it to go

Please Shipley's, I am from Houston, Tx and I miss my kolache fix. Every time I go, it seems as if the kolaches are way too small, dry and either the cheese is oozing out the dough that there's none inside when you bite into them. I hope this location can perfect the recipe!

I drove to Shipley's in a snow storm just to be disappointed. The service was just okay. The doughnuts and kolaches were a huge disappointment. I first had Shipley's in Houston and it was sooo good. I don't know what's done differently between the two states but the Colorado doughnuts were dry and seemed like they were days old. The kolache was a disappointment because it was such an itty bitty sausage inside of all of that bread. The ratio was way off. Oddly, they provide hot sauce but no ketchup. The doughnuts were comparable to a grocery store that's been sitting in the case all day.

Food was great! Jalepeno Kolache was flavorful and not spicy, so I definitely recommend. Donut was great too. Service was fine and atmosphere is okay.

The consistency of the food is off, big time. One day you get soft fluffy kolaches and the next day they are small, dried out, and hard. Same goes for the donuts. The only thing similar to the original Shipley's down south is the name. The food is not even close. If you like original Shipley's, skip this place because the food isn't the same.

I visited this location at 1:00 in the afternoon and was surprised at the selection of donuts they maintained. Usually when you walk in to a donut shop at 1:00, they're getting ready to close and all they have is bits and pieces of their worst sellers. I'd never eaten at Shipley's before so I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. They were so good that I sat down and ate seven of them at one sitting and then rolled around on the floor the rest of the day because I was stuffed. I just couldn't stop eating them. The restaurant was clean and organized and ready for a rush at any time. This has quickly become my favorite donut shop in Denver.
