The young maitre d clearly had no clue that it was a birthday celebration or at least he did not care that it was. We were seated in a middle table close to the bar. How romantic to celebrate a birthday. The service was okay at best. The food was also just okay. We will not be back, based on this experience.

I try to keep my ratings evenly spread. Hickory and Ash was above average for sure but not a standout better than 80% of places level of good. I got the burger and my wife the lamb shank and we were both very satisfied. The red velvet cake dessert was above average too. If I lived locally I'd go back without hesitation.

This was our first time at Hickory & Ash. We had the filet mignon and ribeye. They were both pretty good. I think the mashed potatoes I ordered were instant:( One of the questions asked, when I made the reservation was, if we were celebrating anything. I put down that it was our anniversary. It was barely acknowledged when we were seated by the hostess. I wonder why they even ask?? We were under the impression that they might bring us a dessert or something. Really strange. Not sure, why they even ask??
