Smokin' Oak Wood-Fired Pizza and Taproom

Food was great. Good portions for the price on a wood-fired pizza. We split a bottle of wine which was also priced very modestly. If you are looking for a quick bite living in the area or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping in.

This is far from the best pizza I’ve ever had. The pizza was floppy, chewy, and not really flavorful. This is the third time I’ve eaten here, the first time was when they opened. We gave them feedback and they seemed like they took it to heart. The second time was just fine, the flavor and consistency was there. This time it looks like old habits creeped up. Come on Colorado, our palates should be more demanding than this. We have a lot more than potatoes and green chili.

Normally we like eating here (quick and delicious) but.....
Today we sat there for 47 minutes with 2 toddlers. When I went up and asked how much longer the girl said they had a "REALLY BIG ORDER" in front of us. We waited and saw the "REALLY BIG ORDER" was 3 pizzas and 4 calzones.
When 3 orders behind us came out before ours we asked for our money back. Then said they couldnt refund the order or the tip (because why should they get their money back if they did NOT make our pizza?!) And THAT took about 20 minutes as well!!
No money back, no pizza and now NEVER a return customer.

Heidi did an awesome job! This was our first time at Smokin Oak and she was very helpful!

Called the restaurant and was immediately put on hold, sat on hold for over 10 minutes and could hear chatter and laughing in the background, pathetic and unprofessional would not suggest cause only can guess they don’t handle food well

The pizzas were pretty good once they came, but boy was it a bit of a nightmare to get there.

One pizza was a create your own and it came with the wrong sauce in addition to the desired sauce, but due to an allergy we needed a new one. This is where the problem started. It was nearly a 45 minute wait for the new pizza.

This was compounded by 2/3 of the staff (older man and older woman) just leaving while there were people trying to place orders and pizzas needing to be cooked.

As good as the food was, it wasn't very different from MOD pizza and with the problems we experienced, I will not be coming here again, and I will be warning everyone to stay away for the foreseeable future.

Summary for both of our pizzas: burnt, chewy and stale crust; tasteless cheese; and almost nonexistent and tasteless sauce.

I had to finish hers because she couldn't stomach anymore of it, and I was hungry, craving pizza and chose this place. She got jalapeños and mushrooms. I don't know how you make jalapeños have no spicyness whatsoever, and barely any flavor, but they've figured it out here. The mushrooms were the only thing I could taste on her pizza, and it's probably only because I generally dislike them.

Mine had three meats and I couldn't taste any of them. I can't recall not being able to taste pepperoni on a pizza before.

Maybe these toppings do have limited flavor, but they are so few and thinly sliced that you can't taste them because they're overpowered by the (burnt) crust? I was really looking forward to pizza, so this was a big disappointment.

And why are water cups available, but no fountain / tap water? I guess if you want anything to drink you have to pay for it.

Prettiest magazine pizza? No. Does it matter? No.
Right away you could see how fresh all the ingredients were. First timer here. First bite, every bite - amazing. Probably the best pizza ive ever had. Ill be back.
Ordered online and it was ready just in time.
