Great food, great drinks, great service. Love the atmosphere. DO NOT ask or sit at a high top table - the stools are miserably uncomfortable. Ask for a low table - even if you have to wait.

The brussel sprouts and s'more cake were great. The brie and apple gallette was too sweet and did not have enough brie baked in. Wonderful service and atmosphere. This is located by a river and mountain.

We’ve loved the Wesley Rose for years — it’s always been a highlight of our stays at the Surf, and we’ve often eaten there multiple times during a visit. Unfortunately, last night’s experience was deeply disappointing and unlike anything we’ve encountered before at any restaurant. We were there at 8:15pm on 7/10. We will not be back!

We ordered two gin and tonics with lime and were served drinks that had Tabasco in them. Mistakes happen — as former service industry folks, we totally understand that. But when we politely pointed it out, the bartender (brown hair, glasses) insisted they were correct. The drinks had an orange tint to them- we knew they weren’t before even trying them. When I mentioned the missing lime, she left with both drinks and simply brought back the same drink with a lime added — which was extremely strange and unprofessional. You don’t take drinks from a table to re-serve them….

We then explained the issue again to our server, who seemed to understand and said the bar got confused .. but comments from both the bar tender/runner and server like “Hopefully you like them this time” and “Hopefully these are right” came off as unnecessarily passive-aggressive. At that point, it felt like we were being blamed for a basic misunderstanding — when all we did was ask for what we ordered.

Prior to this situation, it honestly seemed like it was an inconvenience for us to be there. We asked two questions before this- what kind of gin they had and what time the kitchen closed. It was strange to see the vibe shift when these questions were asked but we assumed maybe it was nerves or something… and tried to give the benefit of the doubt. We would have never anticipated that the whole drink debacle would unfold… again a g&t is a really simple drink.

The overall vibe had become uncomfortable w those comments, so we decided to cut the meal short and ask for the check after our appetizer. We were charged for the original drinks, not the corrected gin and tonics, and had to wait over 10 minutes for the check — well after most places in BV had closed. The delay felt intentional, especially as staff chatted with other tables while we waited for the check.

This was the first time we've ever left a restaurant without tipping — something we never do or take lightly. But the rude, dismissive attitude and lack of customer service made this a truly horrible experience. We hope this was a one-off, but it left a lasting impression - we would much rather support other local businesses like crave, cool river, and Eddyline!

Surf hotel was a wipeout

Came hungry, left salty. Food was brinier than the Dead Sea. The best thing we had during the meal was the water. Server acted like she was on her break and we were inconveniencing her by existing. Wait between courses was obscene. We were waiting for a full hour before getting our entree, luckily the drinks were decent. Meat on the burger was nearly raw. Wont be back. Take this as a warning to spend your money elsewhere, preferably a small local business. Food was pretty and the decor was nice!!

Surf Hotel is my favorite place in BV and the brunch was exceptional. I loved the gluten free huevos ranchero.

The ambiance and service here were top notch; however, ordering a $70 steak and having it come out wrong twice is a let down. The calamari with squid ink was superb, I’d still come back and give this another shot but maybe not on an off night when it’s hard to say if the exec chef was even there.

Had another amazing dinner here earlier this week! We'd dined at the Wesley & Rose on a prior visit to Buena and wanted to try it again.

Loved the cheese skillet appetizer! Raclette is among my favorite cheeses, very rare to see it in the US as we typically need to order it from France directly. Has more of a tang and full-bodied taste versus the more typical soft cheeses.

Loved the flavor on the French Onion, could have been hotter, was served maybe 100 degrees although we'd mentioned the temperature being lower than traditional during our prior visit. Still quite good. I had the lasagna with sausage and my wife had a steak, both excellent but so filling we needed to take most of them with us.

Very good meal, excellent service, and great environment. Not sure of the ceiling height in the restaurant, I'd estimate 20 feet, and the effect of looking the windows from the bottom of the canyon to the skyline was breathtaking.

Very much appreciated the experience as oldlyweds on a mini mid-week vacation, it would make a great honeymoon location too.

This is the cutest place!! From the menus to the interior everything is so nice, and they really know how to make a good espresso martini! We only had truffle fries and martinis but we loved it all and will be back!

The gnocchi with butternut squash is absolutely delicious!! The waitress suggested crumbing some sausage on top (I was going to add shrimp)and it was a great suggestion. The flavors!! Everyone loved their meals. Waitress was terrific, great atmosphere, accommodating to our baby.
We’ve eaten here several times and are never disappointed. Just great food.
