Great location. Been going there for years before the new owners took over. Place went down hill. Basically a self serve restaurant now. Won't be going back there again.

I’ve been coming here since long before it became The Outhouse, and ever since it changed hands I hadn’t had the guts to try it until last night… and all I can say is this: the service is atrocious, the restaurant feels lifeless, and the food is mediocre at best. The Outpost has NO SOUL. It blows my mind that such a beautiful location can feel so stale and stagnant. There’s no music, no energy, and the “servers,” who are really just glorified button-pushers, couldn’t care less if you’re there. Kudos to the chick with the dreads and the guy with the mustache and hat for making us feel extremely welcome… glad to have given you our business…. Right…. It was amazing sitting at sticky tables which had hours old tater tot’s and dirty drink cups just waiting to be cleaned.

The chicken was over cooked, the burgers were burnt and undercooked which is WILD… the pizza was burnt as well. I don’t know, I’m bummed with how such a place that was so lively and fun is now just… bleh. Give it a few more years, and hopefully something better will take its place.

I can’t say much for the rooms and whatever else, but the restaurant is not worth your time or money.

Apologies for the negative review, but this place is a shining example of how to not run a once amazing establishment that was a big part of the community.

Steamboat Lake Outpost on CoRd 129, near Steamboat Lake State Park & Hahn’s Peak CG has diesel & gas. No canopy over pumps so it’s big rig friendly.

Served an extremely burnt burger. Patty was small. Lacked flavor, honestly the single worst $20 burger I’ve ever purchased.

Great place for an outdoor adventure. They offer UTV rides (which we did) and horseback riding (which we didn't). Our guide was amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. There is also a gift store, restrooms and a restaurant (which was closed that day we went - but we had planned for a picnic anyway, so that wasn't a problem). The 3-hour UTV experience was thrilling and such a blast. Highly recommended.

Fantastic spot for espresso and espresso based drinks. I asked Rachel for a wet foam cappuccino, and she hooked me up! ❤️

My family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children 15 and under) came out to the Steamboat Lake Outpost from Steamboat Springs for a 2-hour horseback riding adventure. The guides, Brandon & Natalie, were great! They were very personable and helpful when it came to familiarizing us with the horses. The ride was simple, but beautiful. We also spent a little time inside the main store - every person there was super friendly and hospitable. We travel to Steamboat Springs every summer and plan to make Steamboat Lake Outpost a regular occurrence.

We were hesitant about spending the money on the UTV tour. However, it turned out to be an incredible experience that was absolutely worth every penny! Driving and navigating the trails was a lot of fun, and the views were simply breathtaking. We’re already planning to return next year, and we might even extend our stay to hike up Hahns Peak. Thanks a lot for the fantastic tour, Brandon!

We stopped here two days in a row, both times were helpful, clean, priced efficiently and friendly!

We purchased gas and snacks the first day. The general store is stocked very well. The restrooms sparkling clean. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The second day we stopped for lunch and were amazed! Salads are $10 and they are HUGE! We ordered a large pizza which was delicious, hot, tons of toppings, crust was perfect. The pizza was $30 and we still had 1/3 of it to take home.

The decor is perfection. The outdoor playground and patio are geared for both little children and fun adults.

We took a UTV tour and it was amazing! The guides were fantastic and even allowed us to splash in a large mud hole. Trails and views were excellent. Take mouth/nose covering for dust and do not wear anything that you don’t want to get dirty! ;-)

Great fishing on Steamboat Lake gold medal water. We went out on the pontoon boat with Brandom as our Captain and guide. Friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. Nice clean boat and the right equipment. We caught over a dozen rainbow and brook trout up to 18 inches. Wonderful experience. Fairytail scenery. We will be back to the Outpost for more!

Firstly and I think most importantly, the people that work here are PHENOMENAL! All of them are happy and helpful. Sarah, Kyrsten, Theresa in the bar/reception/store were always so pleasant and the lady who runs housekeeping (sorry forgot her name!) sorted out our only issue with the hut quickly and fairly.
The restaurant is smaller than I expected, but really nice with great beers on tap and good food. Think good standard pizzas, burgers and chicken. The play area outside is great for the kids too!
We also paid for the activities and went for the horse riding and fishing excursions. Both were expensive, but worth a go! I would say the horse riding wasn’t fantastic value for money as we actually experienced about just over an hour of horse riding for our money after all the safety talk etc. but the wranglers were very nice and personable. The fishing trip was worth the money and Jim and Ryan were great hosts going the extra mile to gut the fish we caught so we could cook them for dinner!
It was a busy few days and we also hiked Hahns Peak which was amazing if you have time. Thanks Outpost team!
