Ate here for the first time today and found out why it’s always empty. Truly disgusting food, none of our group could get through their plates. The red enchilada sauce tasted Italian? Like maybe they accidentally put marinara sauce on it instead of enchilada sauce? Bad salsa, bad chips, weird limp coleslaw served with the plates, and to top it off, really bad service (when again, we were the only people there!) The real kicker is that 3 of 4 of us had severe gastrointestinal distress within an hour or two of eating there. There are way too many reviews indicating that people got sick after eating here and I wish we would have trusted them. Wapo’s down the street is a much better option for Mexican in downtown Erie.

I am really not sure why this place is still open. How do they do enough business between the food poisoning and the poor service? Nothing, literally nothing is good here. What does it take to close this place down and open the space for a decent restaurant?

The food tastes good and I’ve been going here ever since I moved to Erie plus the service is nice, but every other time I go I get really bad food poisoning. I just threw up for a couple minutes in the middle of the night and it felt like I was going to die, for the 4th time in the past year after a dinner of Azteca. If they stop serving spoiled food every now and then it would be a lot nicer, and the food is good enough for me to risk the 50/50 chance of waking up in the middle of the night thinking I’m gonna die.

Stopped here for lunch but we soon wished we hit the pizza place across the street instead. The chicken in my taco salad had bones in it; yes, more than one. I reordered with ground beef instead (I honestly shouldn't have) and the reorder came out alarmingly fast - it's like everything is pre-made and just gets slapped together. My friends burrito was mush & to top it off the server seemed like he would rather be anywhere else. He did not apologize, or even take the plate away when he was made aware of the bones. I'm sure there are several other restaurants in Erie who'd appreciate your business a lot more than this place.

Fuego Azteca is the Best Mexican Restaurant in town!! The Food is Always Delicious and the Service is great! If you’re looking for amazing authentic Mexican Food in a cute town then this is the place! I also want to mention that the Shrimp Soup is one of our top favorites!!
Don’t waste your time or your money! Food is terrible, service is slow. Go get pizza from across the street!
Normally I usually try not to come here .... I try to avoid it like a plague cause at point kinda know what I'm going to get. BUTTTTTTTT EVEN STILL... today I stopped in not thinking about it (stupid i know) place the same order as I've been getting since I first came & I had a terrible experience. For no reason at all price is up by $2.30 this time! And one of my first complaints was the fact that every time I end up here the dam price goes up...!! AND the wait time increases. Terrible. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Need set myself a reminder! AVOID!!
Great place
Good food! Server was very attentive.

This is coming from a Mexican American okay my mother and grandmother have cooked these exact dishes my whole life. This is not the place. Period. They charge for chips and salsa. The chips are not even homemade. Salsa is from a can. I ordered a fajita quesadilla and it was mostly large chunks of green bell pepper and onion. The chicken was fine. My daughter got a cheese quesadilla and it was so gross they didn’t even use chihuahua cheese. They used like shredded Colby Jack or something terrible it was nasty. My husband got a tres amigos plate which his chile relleno didn’t even have cheese! It was empty. The horchata was very sweet and too much cinnamon. If you think you got to the worst part you didn’t- the host / waitress was so rude. No eye contact. She hardly said a few words to us. It was cold and there are a lot of fruit flies flying around. Disappointing and will not return.
I’ve lived in Erie for years and I’m upset I haven’t come here sooner! The food is so good and be prepared to eat because there is a lot of it! The service was excellent and quick. It was all reasonably priced as well.
I'm from Santa Fe and this was some of the best Mexican I've ever had in Denver. Mostly very authentic Jalisco recipes with the rich sauces for which they are famous. Erie is quaint and has lots of other great options too.

Clean delicious food. We love the Chicken Tostada. The interior has a funky Mexican vibe but it’s clean and pleasant- a lot of booths. Give it a try!!
