Wonderful entrees, but super overpriced. The chef is amazing. We went on a Monday (Happy Hour all evening) which is really the best option considering the prices. The apps were great as well as the entrees. Just the right portion size on entrees, so you don't feel stuffed and gross. I rarely order dessert, but we had the Gelato and the chocolate cake. Great for special occasions! I am not a fish lover but my husband and son are. I really only like the fish at Jax because the seafood is so fresh.
So disappointing! We have been to Jax in Glendale before and it was always good. We booked a table for six for our daughter's birthday. It did not go well. Two of the six drinks ordered were made incorrectly: a margarita instead of a paloma and a tequila and soda instead of a gin and tonic. ?? The explanation for what went wrong was sketchy. Salmon ordered medium (as suggested) came out nearly raw and had to be re-done - leaving one of our party waiting while the rest ate. The crab cacio e pepe was tasteless with watery "sauce." The hushpuppies were hard and dry, and the "smoked bacon" cornbread lacked bacon (or any indication on the menu how bacon was included/involved). The crushed pineapple tart was sickly sweet. The lobster/shrimp rolls, crab cake, BLT salad, mussels, and key lime tarts were all fine, but nothing to write home about. The only real winner we ordered was a tray of oysters. On our way out, my husband asked to speak to the manager about the problems with the drinks, salmon, and crab pasta. The manager apologized but offered only his name "to make sure our experience will be great" (or something to that effect) when we return. No offer to comp even part of this expensive meal. We won't be going back.
We sat at the bar and received almost no service. We asked for everything we needed and had to wait for that too. Empty water, empty wine. There were 4 bartenders!
We sat on the rooftop patio on a Friday night, where they have live music from 6 to 8. It was really great! They had the shades down so the sun was not coming in much. Had good food - crab cheese wonton dip, pan seared halibut, and blue crab cacio e pepe.
Jax in Glendale has been a favorite for a long time. But a change in management has not been a good change, Maybe one or two of the old staff are present and the atmosphere seemed strained. In most restaurants I expect a visit from the manager, but not now. Hope they can get back to good.
We got there on time and our table was waiting. Service was prompt, and we were happy Halibut was back in season. The food was excellent, very tastey and warm. The service from Adriana was pleasant, and well done. Altogether a very pleasant dinig experience!
Great spot for happy hour & patio with friends. HH menu has a variety to choose from both food & wine, Don't miss the peel & eat shrimp. Staff friendly & attentive.
Cocktails were good, appetizers were good, entrees were under seasoned and over priced. Service could have been much better. Long wait times in between seeing server and had to ask for water refills and other items. Took so long to get through our meal we decided to take home dessert.
After being greeted by the hostess we were shown to a (reserved) table right next to the bathrooms and bussing station. This was arguably the worst table in the entire restaurant - a table that shouldn't even exist. Yet this occurred when we could plainly see there were at least a dozen other tables available. But the worst part wasn't the location, it was the hostesses' response when I asked if we could "please be seated away from the bathroom." Her somewhat smarmy response was, "I didn't realize this table would be too close to the bathroom for you." I mean, what the hell was that supposed to mean? Do other parties say, "Oh good! We are just close enough to the restroom!" It was a very strange thing for her to say. Anyway, after that weird interlude I'm happy to say the rest of the evening was great. Usual good service (thank you Ian) and the food was fabulous. Highlights: Seared yellowtail, salmon, oysters, peel and eat shrimp. We come her several times a year - even though it's an hour drive for us, and will continue to return for the great food and service.
There were four of us, and we had a very pleasant meal! The table that we reserved was waiting for us. Noise was a bit high as we were sitting close to some people who might have been drinking. The food was excellent, and we were very happy that the Halibut was available.

I came to the restaurant and made a take-out order. This tuna costs $47+ tax. The quality of this tuna is very poor. You can see the veins that shouldn't be there. They brought it to me 5 minutes after I made the order, which obviously had been prepared long before I made the order.
You know 5 star service when you get 5 star service. Jax doesn’t slip at all, focusing on several touches from multiple ppl, with a customer centric focus. Every dish we ordered was exceptionally executed. The calamari was the best we’ve had; not over cooked, sumptuous with a perfect fry and both tubular and rings balanced. Also, there was no “old” taste to the frying oil. Their willingness to substitute sides without concern was another way they excelled at pleasing the customer.
They have quite a few menus so that you know everything available. Perfect for our birthday party. While my father wanted scallops I was happy they offered raw oysters individually, freshly shucked.
Our tableside banter with Cody, our waiter, personalized our birthday dinner.
Thank you Jax, for adding to our special event. They even had “Happy Birthday” written on the table.
Get there a bit early for their Happy Hour with live music.
