Management and staff were absolutely lovely. So accommodating and the food was really good! It was very ‘standard’ sushi in my opinion- had a tasty cali roll, tuna roll was fresh, and the steamed buns were served with a delicious spicy sauce.

Service was as good as the food! Loved the fried bao, Japanese curry, and dragon roll. 10 year old said his ramen was “phenomenal”.

It might be because I have lived in Japan many years so I have a harsh opinion. The tables and chairs were dirty to include the menu and silverware. The appetizers we were served clearly are frozen and flash fried. Also, the sushi roll quality was poor with little flavor. The Japanese curry was very watery and the chicken consistency was tough and dry with poor texture. The only thing that was worth trying was the fortune cookie.

I’m giving kanpai 2 stars because the food is great and the sushi chef is very good at what he does. However, eating here or worse, trying to get takeout has become an uncomfortable and unenjoyable endeavor.
There is usually only one server on staff and she is usually upset, especially if you’re trying to order takeout. Takeout is supposed to be something quick, take an order and put it in when you get a chance. I have been hung up on, put on hold for 20 minutes just to be yelled at and today, trying to put in an order I sat and waited for 10 minutes while being ignored. The sushi chef even asked the server to take my order and she refused. I understand it’s because you don’t get as much of a tip for take out orders but we live down the street and did frequent it often.

Although it faces some gas pumps, the food and staff are friendly and easy going. Relatively small menu, but everything I ordered was the proper temperature. I was surprised to see so few photos posted, this place is worth a visit.

Went for dinner on Friday night as a group of 6. Our server was busy but able to memorize each order. We had their happy hour which includes an app, roll and drink, super affordable. We had some additional rolls off the main menu, all of which were good too. Sushi was fresh and we look forward to going back!

I’d definitely stick with the rest of the reviews and just get sushi and drinks. The food wasn’t bad by any means, but it wasn’t great, either.
I got the Chicken Katsu Curry entree and Miso soup. I thought the curry could really use a bit more substance—despite the fact that it was suitably thick, it was rather mellow, like it was watered down. It also did not contain any vegetables, and so it was more of a sauce than anything else. The chicken cutlet itself was of a suitable size, fried gently in panko crumbs, and was tender and juicy—beyond that, it lacked depth of flavor, which was quite disappointing given the price. The salad it was served alongside was comprised of spring greens, which were fresh and flavorful, as well as a bit of cucumber. The dressing was sharp and tangy which I appreciated.
The miso soup was your traditional miso soup, but it was done well. The tofu was silky and pleasant to eat, which was nice.
The food definitely gave off the impression that it was catering towards less the typically less adventurous palates here in the valley, which isn’t a bad thing, just not what I’m looking for.
All in all, I feel this place has a great amount of potential—it just needs to be a bit more intentional with their entrees. It’s understandable why they are not, however, given that they’re primarily a sushi bar.
The staff were all very kind, even making sure to check if I wasn’t enjoying the soup, but they were a bit busy, and so they got behind. The wait times were a little much, especially for the food. It must have been at least 20 minutes, more likely 30. The restaurant was also very clean, and the atmosphere was friendly and casual while still maintaining some level of class.
Overall, I would not mind coming here again, but it definitely wouldn’t be my first choice for Japanese food here in the valley.

What a hidden gem in Glenwood. My husband and I were so psyched to find this spot. We were there on Saturday evening, so impressed by the sushi chef, presentation of the rolls, and freshness of the fish. Cannot wait to visit again.

This place is absolutely incredible—a true hidden gem. The fish quality is superb, and the prices are very reasonable. The waitress Colleen was exceptionally friendly and kind. This is now my favorite sushi spot; we'll visit every time we're in town.
