The food is absolutely unreal, the lattes came out with pretty nifty cinnamon art. The Bison Hash with Chicken fried eggs are my favorite. Absolutely among the best spots to eat in the Denver metro. Only downside for me was the Queen Mary Bloody Mary was not great, and the waitress did not ask why I hadn't drank even 1/4 of it by check time.
Mixed review- I’d be giving 5 stars had our food come out warm, which was disappointing. Servers response was “want me to nuke it?”… um- no- who eats nuked eggs?! She did take $3.50 off the $75 bill for the inconvenience- so there was some effort- I guess. Now- the food was damn good otherwise (would have been better warm!) we specifically went for the fried green tomatoes and HOT DAMN they were DELICIOUS - these were served hot along with our beignets- which were also AMAZING! These came out immediately before our food- it was 25-30 minutes for our breakfast to come after. Biscuits and gravy was good- go for the vegetarian green Chile gravy- trust me! Country breakfast was just ok- Potato casserole was delicious- even cold- but the bottom line is that eggs are NOT good cold. The food had the flavors- if I was the cook/ chef and knew food sat long enough to get cold- and the server offered for it to be “nuked” I’d be irate. Long review short - food would be great if you served it hot. Atmosphere was really great- cute/ quaint little place.
Shrimp and grits were spot on. Had a nice flavor with a little heat. Shrimp was plentiful and cooked correctly. The grit cakes and sausage pieces were a wonderful complement to the dish. Ordered with an egg, over medium ?
This is usually our go-to spot if we have a larger crew. The New Orleans/Cajun style food is always delicious, and bloody marys are on point. Get in early to avoid a wait (you will most likely have to wait if you don't get there when they open). Service can be a bit off sometimes, but is usually outweighed by the quality of food.
We arrived for a 10am brunch experience. We waited about 20 minutes but it was definitely worth it! We started off with White Chocolate Lavender Mochas which were heavenly. We also got the Churro Beignets, so much fluff, plus a fun idea. For brunch I had the fried green tomato Benedict and my husband had the bison and deep fried eggs Benedict. Both were completely amazing. Lots of food, all delicious. If you’re looking for a great brunch spot, this is it!
We stopped at this place solely because of the name. We have a member of our family that we call Sassafras. We got there right away at 8am and a line was already forming. The waiter was very prompt and knowledgeable. Our food arrived hot and fast. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and experience. The only downside was the water could have been colder or provided ice. It was a very warm day.
The appearance of the chicken fried steak breakfast looks great and honestly the collard greens are great but, this meal was... quite blah and for the price, the flavor just isn't there. ?
Everything here is good!
Good selection of drinks and food! Definitely come here to get your brunch game on! It does get a little busy so arrive outside of the rush. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Such a great place for a nice brunch! Right off of Clear Creek in downtown Golden, you'll get great service with a smile, great food - whatever you do choose to order and great drinks if you so choose!Allison was great to us and super attentive, easy to talk to and was genuine.Looking forward to the next time we're around to come back in!!

When it first opened, it was great. Now, the food is just OK. My favorite was fried green tomatoes eggs benedict but now the tomatoes are pre-prepared and just warmed before serving. Now just lukewarm, tough to even cut with a butter knife and bitter. Nothing like it used to be. The service is fine but I was hungry and then disappointed.
We went there for brunch this morning, and sat at the bar. The two female bartenders were amazing! Super attentive, and made great cocktails. I started with the sassafras Mary, and it was delicious. Lots of yummy accompaniments. My husband had an old fashioned, and it was so good , he had two. I had the wedge salad with grilled chicken. Yum! The vegetables were really fresh, and the dressing was yummy. My husband had a basic breakfast, and said it was delicious. Especially the biscuit and gravy. Highly recommend! A gem in Golden!
Service is wonderful, the seating is great. I've never had to wait in line. Plating is exceptional considering it's just a brunch restaurant. I love coming here! There Benedict's are amazing and so are there beingets! I had the smoked salmon Benedict ?
Quick little lite brunch this am. Maple sausage and egg biscuit w/ gravy. Slider was huge with nice cheesy egg and fluffy biscuit. The side of sweet potato fries were outstanding and Mimosa right on. Great service at the bar.
Delicious! I had a bloody mary and biscuits and sausage gravy. My husband had the country breakfast. Everything was great! The potato casserole is something I will now be searching for a recipe for. And the sausage gravy was out of this world. Definitely a place to check out when in Golden.
