We ate here on a Wednesday in mid-December. The drive (from near Florissant) is beautiful, going both ways. Guffey sits in an ancient volcanic area, with great scenic surroundings. What's best about it is that there isn't much traffic and aren't many people and mcmansions, unlike most of the Colorado mountains. The Freshwater Tavern was an utterly delightful detour off of 9 that we'd willingly make time and time again. Not only is the service that we received superb but the food was truly beyond what we imagined being served at a roadside diner/bar. They had plenty of brews on tap but as we'd stopped in for lunch, we didn't partake in a pint. Just the same, we left with happy tummies, smiles and sunshine to tide us over until the next mealtime.

Took a beautiful Sunday drive up to see a favorite local band at The Freshwater. We were completely thrilled with the dog friendly atmosphere, beauty of the surroundings, but the FOOD was FANTASTIC! Our waitress was fun & helpful. Food came out fast and hot. We are very much looking forward to going back!
