This was our first stop when coming back to Gunnison. First night we had drinks by the river and dinner inside. A few days later we had to come back, this time we sat on the patio and enjoyed another wonderful meal. From the hostess who truly made us feel welcomed with her warm and sincere personality to the professional servers; this place is wonderful. The team actually remembered us from a few days ago - which shows their intention and commitment to insure their guests are treated like family. The food has always exceptional and the drink selection is diverse. We can’t wait to come back again. Garlic Mike, you have a unique restaurant that my friends and I recommend to anyone who is in the area. Keep up the great work - see you next time.

Just a great experience every time I've been. Beautiful, rustic environment with excellent food. Go early and check out the back patio by the river (and have a drink or glass of wine while you wait!). One of Gunnison's finest!

Sitting outside by the river in the summer while having a beverage and a snack is why we came. Goal achieved. The live music was country; not a fan. The service was extremely slow. We were there two hours for a beer and appetizer. I had to ask for ice water 3 times. The river is gorgeous, the tables, comfortable and the vibe, chill.

What an amazing location. We just had bad luck with very slow service and the food was just OK.

The River Bar is a great spot to have evening drinks. Cocktails are wonderful. Did not have food from the truck. We had dinner reservations.
The dinner experience was not as good. Apparently had one waiter, until later in the evening, taking care of too many tables, both inside and around the patio area. Service was slow, we didn’t get oil and spices for our bread, didn’t notice that was provided until later. Apparently some other tables didn’t notice either. Food was average, not authentic Italian, my opinion. Could have been warmer.
One thing I observed about the one waiter serving multiple tables as mentioned before, he seemed to cater to large groups. Parties of two didn’t get the same service , no oil / spice for bread, not offered any fresh ground pepper . Took longer to get food. Could it be he was catering to larger groups because of possible larger tip? Everyone should receive same service.
Place is a bit expensive. I don’t mind paying the price if I get service and great food, not just okay food.
The young ladies taking care of cleaning tables, refilling drinks did a good job.
After being seated at 6pm and finally finishing at 7:45pm, not sure if I’ll be back for dinner. Was not in any rush but that time frame was a little longer than expected.

Mediocre food, poor service, loud atmosphere — never again.

Prime rib was dry, tough, and tasteless; included Brussels sprouts had a rotten section. Parmesan chicken was bone-dry, pasta lacked sauce, and gnocchi was oily and doughy. No meaningful replacements were offered except prime rib but I declined because Gavin (our server) said their prime rib is always served that way implying nothing was wrong with the food. What is the point of the replacement if I'm going to get the same? Gavin said he will show the rotten brussel sprouts to kitchen staff and took my plate but it was the last time I saw my plate. Even our request for extra calamari sauce was ignored.

We were seated beside a group shouting so loudly we couldn’t hear ourselves. Despite asking our server twice for help which he said he will involve a manager (Gavin's idea) nothing was done. By the end, we were counting the minutes until we could leave.
We paid $260 to have a disappointing and frustrating dining experience from start to finish.
However, few persistent flies (we were swatting them all evening ) were very friendly to us and appreciated our presence there. Oh and, our lucky dog who had a full plate of prime rib!

Took over an hour to get food. Servers were not slammed. Food was mediocre. Def not worth $100. River was nice, but there's no charge for it.

No doubt a very cool atmosphere, however that is where the praise ends. My party ordered chicken parm and chicken marsala. The chicken parm appeared to be a store bought pre breaded chicken with tiny portions and no parm. Chicken marsala was tough and gross. Most expensive and worst meal of the trip.
