We were visiting Gunnison to visit our college son who attends college there in September 2024. We wanted to treat him to lunch. I ordered the patty melt, my husband and daughter ordered Chicken fried steak, and my son ordered one of their burgers. We also ordered calamari and cheese curbs for appetizer. I took 2 bites from my patty melt. One to initially eat it and the 2nd to figure out what is wrong with the taste. It was awful. It was dry, absolutely bland, and had a weird taste. My husband said he tasted a 'fish' taste, but I felt like it was just old meat. My daughter ate a couple bites of the chicken fried steak and couldn't eat it. She just said it tasted awful and agreed probably old. The gravy on the CFS looked just like the mash potatoes as you couldn't tell the difference. My son said his burger was awful. He didn't articulate how, but that it was bad. We literally only took a few bites. I have never been to a restaurant where all of our food was nasty. It was so bad; I didn't even complain to management but preferred to just leave. My daughter also said that the couple sitting across from us was complaining about the quality/taste of their food. The cheese curds were pretty good. We paid $113 for cheese curds because all of the food was completely wasted. It was an appalling experience.

The chicken fried steak meat was very dense. Did not taste homemade. Worst mac n cheese i have ever had. It had no cheese sauce at all and looked like just boiled noodles. No flavor. Cheese curds were great
Waited 10 minutes after being greeted by host was seated at table when we made eye contact with the waitress and she responded oh Im sorry to kept you waiting I was busy.....Waitress kept forgetting to bring our drinks and everything in between. She forgot my soda then brought the wrong drink. Chicken fried steak did not look or taste fresh and inhouse made, inside batter was mushyand uncooked. Fish and chips looked like a brick of thick hard batter had to ask for lemon and tarter sauce after waiting for it I received 1 slice of lemon and half a serving condiment cup of tarter sauce unfortunately it was not a pleasant experience overall and a waste of hard earned money it definitely felt like we were out of place and on the wrong side of town

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at the Ol Miner. We were there on a pretty quiet night so we were able to just walk in. The hostess was a bit confused at first that we did not have a reservation but once that was cleared up we got seated and served promptly.
I had the sirloin and my wife had a burger. Both were cooked to our order and tasted great. I really liked the beer battered mushrooms appetizer too.
Prices are surprisingly good. I eat out at steakhouses when I can and these were the most reasonable prices I have seen this season.
Kid-friendliness: This would be an easy place to bring the family assuming the kids are old enough to behave.

Had a friend from out of town we came to the ol’ miner for lunch the food was great! But the waiter yovan was phenomenal most polite waiter I’ve ever met took very good care of us we will definitely be back hope he is our server again!
