Black Bear Diner Johnstown

I got a Denver omelet and specifically asked for no onions. Everyone got their food and mine was loaded with onions. I pointed it out to the wait staff but said it took so long to get our food, I didn’t want to wait for new so I picked most of them out. The staff or manager never offered to make it right. It was not busy. We were one party of maybe 6 parties total. Disappointing. I’ve not had issues prior.

My Reuben was Excellent and Anne Marie did a great job taking care of us. Our food was served up quite quickly with how busy it was.

Great selection... huge portions... they may have had some bumps when they first opened but that is expected. The last few times we have went, it was fantastic!

This place is great! Very convenient, right off the interstate. I come here all the time. The food is great and the service is phenomenal! My favorite servers are: Maria, Kayleene, Caleb, Robert, Dawn, and Amy. They are all amazing! Definitely will be back.

The service was decent — friendly and prompt. However, the food was a letdown. The chicken tenders were dry and overcooked, making them hard to enjoy. And the fries? Let’s just say they shouldn’t even be called fries. Cold, bland, and lifeless. Definitely expected better. But it’s Colorado what was I expecting

Had a Christmas Party for our club at the Black Bear Diner last night. Had a great time. Service was excellent, food was very good and plenty, and the facility was nice and large and beautifully decorated for our party. We will definitely be returning soon. Thank you John the Manager, and to our 2 waitresses. Excellent service.

They did excellent taking care of 40 people for our car club White Elephants Christmas party! Staff was outstanding, kind, courteous and very efficient. Orders came out timely hot, fresh, large portions and very tasty. Cheers to all involved in making it a memorable evening!

New leasee replacing Johnson Corner's Cafe. Had to wait awhile for someone to seat us at a rather quiet time with few customers. Noone watching the door with entrance out of view from workers in dinning area.
Meals were good and portions good size.
We chose the location as a meeting point between family members coming from North and South of Jonestown. They allowed us to sit and visit for about 3 hours, which we appreciated.

I brought a group of 5 people for breakfast on 6-Dec-2025. Everyone at the table found it outstanding in every way: large portions, excellent food quality, excellent service, and our group of 5 was served with hot food in 19 minutes. It appears any trouble they were having getting adequate kitchen staff earlier in 2025 is now taken care of.

I had to work Thanksgiving so we decided to do to go meals. We were very disappointed. I think I was told a roll was included but not positive. Soup was forgotten on 1 meal, broccoli forgotten on another meal, both ham dinners were supposed to have country gravy, 1 had turkey gravy and neither person liked turkey or turkey gravy which is part of why we went with Black Bear Diner for the ham. The person hat handed out the meals forgot the desserts until my husband asked about them. When ordered I was told 20-25 minutes to pick up, it took almost an hour. I understand holiday crazy and mistakes happen but being a former restaurant manager of more than 20 years and some of the biggest holiday locations to serve I felt too many problems happened with our meals! 1 person (I gave up my meal so another could eat) didn't eat dinner! You also discontinued the senior citizen discount. We were 3 seniors still working to make our budgets stretch! We were very disappointed!
