Just picked up my to go order and let me say I am more than disappointed. I ordered the fried chicken meal and the chicken is so dry, burnt and tasteless I can literally tell it has been sitting out since this morning. Next time I decide to spend 60 bucks for the family something to eat it will def not be this place.

Vern's Place is my number one favorite restaurant! It's rustic western atmosphere with delicious American comfort food is a dream! You can never go wrong with the chicken fried steak! It will feed you for multiple meals for a reasonable price! The staff are also always so friendly here!

When I drove up to Verns at 3:30 for a coffee and roll, I saw a sign for Family Chicken dinner. I thought that I would try it out and thought it would be a nice picnic meal some evening when going up the canyon. I was extremely disappointed when I got home. If I was the cook and owner there is no way I’d serve that to my family let alone paying customers. I’m not a picky eater but I ate a little bite of things and had to throw the 4 person meal in the trash. The fried chicken 8 pc was overly fried and meat was dry and no flavor. They forgot to pack the coleslaw. The gravy and mashed potatoes were not that great and the dinner rolls were biscuits from the morning probably as they were so dry. I’d heard from friends that Vern’s had gone down hill in every way and it was sad. I completely agree!! Even the bathrooms were horribly dirty. Nice staff but get to work people before you loose more customers.

Service was great. The food was pretty dang good too. Id come here again. I feel likes it's hard to find a good restaurant in Colorado that isn't a chain. Their fries are super good.
Fried pickle appetizer was great. Fried chicken was blah, heat lamp warmed, not fresh (go to Music City). The 54g sandwich was dry and underwhelming, fries were good. The only real redeeming factor was one son said the prime rib was very good. Other than that and the pickles it was a bust. Server was very nice but spread a little thin. Definitely not going back. I have no idea how people think this place is good. Maybe the breakfast?

If you’re expecting a short and sweet review about how wonderful the food is and how attentive the wait staff is at verns place unfortunately this is not that review. I am a fellow service industry worker wanting to try new places out on the front range. I looked up verns place online and saw great reviews and decided to try it out. I live in south fort collins and drove 25 minutes to laporte to try a NOCO staple. We were greeted kindly and were sat outside at 1:55pm today. We then proceeded to watch 4 servers pass us by for 25 minutes. (yes i timed it) I wish i could say more but after 30mins of waiting we decided to leave. We were never even served a water. The wait staff was to busy doing sidework (which we observed) and waiting on other tables. THE RESTAURANT WAS NOT EVEN BUSY TODAY!! I do NOT leave reviews on restaurants due to bad food because I know restaurants can have bad days and dont want to damage a good reputation. However I cant even comment on the food because I WAS NEVER SERVED! (I hate that my first ever review is as bad as this one but something had to be said.) As a complete switchup We ended up going to LOS COMALES next to CSU campus and were greeted kindly and attentively! TRY THE CHIMACHINAS AND BIRRIA TACOS!! Delicious!!

Verns is a classic! It has existed my hole life. I remember going here with my grand parents when I was kid. We also used to stop at verns for gas, ice, worms, and doughnuts for the drive when we would go camping. Verns has a very special place in my heart. It's not the same as it used to be , I actually stopped eating ther about 10 years ago because the food and service had just gotten so awful. Since it has been under new ownership in recent years I gave it another go and havnt been disappointed. The food is amazing and the service is always exelent. No, it's the Verns of my younger years but I feel they kept the menu somwhat true to what it was. I would love to see more stuff in the gift shop area.
