I ordered the apple french toast. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But wow! I never order french toast at restaurants, but this was legendary. It’s given me hope again! (I ate this the night before hiking Mt. Elbert) It was very warm inside this place, but it’s an old building. So I’ll cut it some slack!

Didn't eat here the last time I visited, I did have a few drinks. I thought the service was poor, as the bartender (Anthony) seemed to avoid my wife and me. We were sitting at the end of the bar, and often times I would wave him down, only for him to look directly at me then ignore me. It wasn't until a local sitting next to me called out his name and asked him to come get us a drink that he gave any attention to us. Even then, he seemed irritated. Must not have wanted my business. He seemed really nice and attentive to the locals, but seemed to not care about me or my wife. I visit Leadville a couple times a year, this was the first time I've had such poor service. I only spent 30 dollars there, but had the service been better, I'm sure I would have spent much more.

Waited 45 minutes for one sandwich and one tiny burger. Food was fine but at that point I would've eaten anything. Restaurant was only about half full so no apparent reason for the slow service. Also, server never came to check on us once unless we flagged him down.

I've been trying very hard to love this place. It has so much historical significance to our little mountain town, yet it falls short in some fairly important areas.

First, the ambiance is quite nice. Really makes you feel like you're in a saloon from the late 1800's.
Second, the drinks are always good. You rarely have to worry about getting something bad. My only qualm with getting drinks here is an instance where I brought a friend who stopped in town on his way through during a backpacking trip and there were no seats at the bar or at the tall-tops since they were pretty busy. No big deal. So we found a small space to stand and drink beside the jukebox which put us completely out of the way of people and employees walking through. Unfortunately, after thirty minutes and two drinks each, we were told we needed to leave because they needed space for other customers. Very strange experience considering I have been here during ski joring in the past when it was twice as packed and was never asked to leave.
Third, the food is great, but you have to go on a good day. The kitchen seems to be open at odd hours and is often a hit or miss in terms of how hot you will recieve your food. Could be an instance of lack of servers, but something to keep in mind nonetheless.

Overall, I do like this place, but I think it has some work to do in terms of their food service and apparent standing issues.

Hands down the best food we’ve ever eaten! My husband got the Yak burger special which we hope and pray will be on the menu next time we’re in town, the best burger I’ve ever had. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was amazing, the bun itself, incredible they must make them in house.
We were referred by the nice lady at the visitor center, she mentioned the new owner of the bar hand picks food from local farms and prepares holiday dinners for people in need during thanksgiving and Christmas, sounds like a good establishment to support to me! A must eat when in Leadville

This the best little old West town bar in the west! The food is amazing! I love their chicken fried Yak with brown gravy sauted veggies and diced potatoes with rosemary and olive oil. Everything on this plate just melts in your mouth and anything on the menu that the chef Shrek makes is just boa petite. Thanks again for another top notch experience with your hospitality and food and service. Food was delicious hot and served quickly can't ask for more. Then to be able to sit on the same room were Doc Holiday used to gamble it's a no brainer and triple whammy. Be sure to ask for some of the staff to show you the picture of a ghost on the back wall that a customer took in 1980.
So much cool history and if I could I'd hang out here and eat everyday. Love old westerns playing on the T.V. makes it even more authentic.
Keep up the great work and Western tradition of the old West at its best.

Stopped in for a drink while crossing the rockies in late summer. Amazing atmosphere. Great price. Be sure to add a sticker to the window outside if you got one.

The food was amazing! We got the wings, onion rings and some drinks. Everything was so uniquely flavorful and learning the history about the building was really interesting. It was cool to sit in a building Doc Holiday and Molly Brown were in.

STOPPED IN FOR LUNCH. THE FOOD WAS TOTALLY BLAND, NO FLAVOR. BBQ SAUCE WAS DROWNED IN BROWN SUGAR. WAITRESS WAS SICK (VERY SICK!) AND GOT THE WHOLE TABLE SICK. WE SAW HER THROW UP BEHIND THE COUNTER AND KEEP WORKING. DISGUSTING!!! WON’T BE BACK. SAD! TOTAL FAILURE!

Nice ambiance and atmosphere though.

This was a very unpleasant experience. I went there this past weekend with a few friends, and we were all pretty excited to try this place we've hear so much about. There was no wait when we arrived and as we were being walked back to our table a few things stood out to me. The atmosphere, although historic, was dark and dingy, full of clutter, and lacked energy... especially the staff who looked more bothered that we decided to stop in than happy for our business. Once we sat down, I am pretty sure I heard what sounded like one of the waitresses puke in the trash behind the bar. I ordered the smoked brisket sandwich and fries (the special that day), and a few other people I was with ordered some version of a BBQ meat sandwich as well (Pulled pork I believe). My initial thoughts about the food were that it was satisfactory... that is until we all became violently ill with food poisoning.

Food is ranked low for obvious reasons. The bare minimum expectation of a restaurant is to produce food that doesn't make you sick.

Service is ranked low for lack of energy, timeliness, and some hygiene concerns I have about the establishment.

Atmosphere is ranked low because he restaurant, simply put, is not clean. I understand the old time and historic vibe they are going for, but that should not include layers upon layers of dust on the pictures and items on the walls, light fixtures, and woodwork.
