Today 02/05/2026, we went to this restaurant and I was really excited to try it. When we walked in, there were several waitresses standing at the entrance, but none of them greeted us.
The waitress who took us to our table did so with a very bad attitude. She placed the menus on a table located in the middle of the restaurant. Since I was with my one-year-old baby, I thought it would be better to sit at a table at the end of the restaurant so we wouldn’t inconvenience people walking by or trying to leave. I politely and respectfully asked if we could move to the empty table at the end.
She did not respond to me. Instead, she threw the menus on the table, turned around, and walked away while complaining to other waitresses and giving uncomfortable looks.
Of course, I stood up with my family and went to speak to another waitress. I apologized and told her we were going to leave because the situation felt very uncomfortable. I explained why I had asked for the other table, and she responded, “Do you want the table or not?”
As someone who works in customer service, I believe employees should be very careful about how they speak and behave in front of customers. My experience at this place today was horrible.

Always a great experience. The food is delicious, the wait is always short, the prices are always good. One of my favorite sushi spots in Colorado, hands down!

We always order the sushi boat for two as it ends up being half the cost of ordering things separately and includes soup and salad. Enough food for two meals for both of us! 2 thumbs up.

Amazing sushi and I always love to order the salmon bento box. The meal exceeded my expectations and the price was very reasonable. I come here frequently and Sumo is always consistent.

Been coming here with my wife for years. The service is always on point and the food is awesome.
Appetizer wise, you cant go wrong but the rock shrimp with extra sauce is a favorite.
Their sushi is fresh and has the perfect amount of rice on each roll. They also have some of the best hibachi in the area.
Always reliable for a great meal

Lunch was scrumptious. I tried the miso, sashimi, sushi, and a roll. They were all very delicious, some of the best I’ve had in Colorado especially for the price. Only the sashimi was slightly too cold.

My favorite sushi in Bouldmont! I love the Sushi/Sashimi combos. All the Spicy rolls are amazing and the owner/manager(?) Mindi is the nicest person you could meet. Let them know it's your birthday to celebrate.

This place is great. Just ate here tonight. Super nice staff and the food is great. I’m from LA and this place is as good as, if not better than anything available out there (take from that what you will; LA is supposed to have some of the best food and I tend to agree with that idea). It’s also reasonably priced. Give these ppl your money.

If you’re looking for a restaurant where the food is exceptional and the people make you feel genuinely cared for, Sumo Sushi & Grill is that rare gem. My husband Kenneth and I have been dining here for years, and what keeps us coming back isn’t just the hibachi, rolls or the ramen — it’s the extraordinary kindness of the entire Sumo team.
From the moment we walk through the door, we’re treated like family. Mandy and her team remember our likes and dislikes down to the smallest detail — the extra glasses of ice, the spicy mayo, the sriracha oil — often brought to us before we even have a chance to ask. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare in today’s dining world, and it never goes unnoticed.
The food at Sumo is consistently outstanding, but what elevates this restaurant above the rest is the heart behind every plate they serve. We see how hard the staff works every day, and the warmth and hospitality they show us — and every guest — is truly something special.
We recently shared a batch of our New Orleanian gumbo with the Sumo team as a small token of our gratitude. As chefs ourselves, it meant a lot to give back even a fraction of the joy they’ve given us over the years. Their appreciation reminded us once again why we love this place so much.
Sumo isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a community. It’s comfort. It’s home.
Thank you, Sumo — for everything you do.
Five stars, every visit.
