Incredibly slow service. Food is mediocre. Entree came out embarrassingly cold. It's Aramark, so it's basically just food you'd find at sports arena. They call themselves fine dining, but it's very underwhelming. It takes 30 minutes just to get a drink. Staff seems overwhelmed running all over the place, but its nkt a large dining room, so theres some major staffing issue here. Kitchen does a decent job of upscaling the poor quality ingredients, but at the end of the day, it all ships in frozen on a box truck at bottom dollar rates. As far from "fine-dining" as you could get.

Quite possibly the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. This place is in the middle of nowhere so has a monopoly. I cannot begin to explain how bad our server was. Think Manuel from Faulty Towers magnified. Attitude appalling. No comprehension of how a kitchen works and I could see plates ready to go out to customers whilst she was chatting to one table and ignoring the others. No surprise that my food was lukewarm when it arrived. Drinks? Wait 15 minutes for the first and as for a refill, forget it... after another 15 minutes and having decided to leave the cold food, I asked her to cancel it. Only to be barked at that it had been ordered. Unfortunately this is the only restaurant open on site so will be a packet of crisps tomorrow night

Amazing atmosphere. Food was splendid and cooked to perfection. Wine was reasonable priced. Shawn was our server and was excellent ensuring we were taken care of from start to finish. Mesa Verde coffee from desert sun was a perfect way to cap the meal off. 10/10 recommend.

The meal was delicious. Our server, Samantha, did a great job though she had to cover 1/2 the tables by herself. The hostess (didn't catch her name) was professional and courteous. When things got busy she was also helping the servers bussing tables.

At a restaurant priced at this level, you would expect the salad fork would be replaced without asking before the main course arrived and that the water glass would be refilled at least once. If so, you will be disappointed here. My trout was tasty, but my wife's steak was far overdone and had to be replaced.

Wow, can't say enough how wonderful this was! Had two dinners and each one was perfect, especially the Colorado Trout. Our waiter, Brian, was great. He's so professional and friendly. He's definitely an asset to this restaurant.

Obviously lovely setting, but food was absolutely not worth it. The side salad was just a handful of spring mix, huge awkward cuts of cucumber, decent heirloom tomatoes but sprinkled with regular bagged shredded cheese mix. I order the spring chicken which was supposed to be served with "grilled avocado, fire roasted corn, blue masa tortilla, pico de Gallo, lime" but what came was a half a plate of corn chips with some sort of crema drizzle, corn in a heavy cheese sauce, guacamole with corn in it, and grilled chicken. It tasted decent but was not at all what was advertised.

FIVE HUGE STARS!!
We were staying at the lodge and chose the dining room solely because there were few other dinner options nearby. We were nervous about "having" to eat there twice during our stay. However, my three travel companions and I were absolutely blown away by our meals!!
We had the salmon, the trout, the pork medallions and the chicken with polenta. Everyone loved the quality, the mixes of flavors and the portion sizes.
The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The wait times for our drinks and food were appropriate.
We didn't expect to find this high quality restaurant in the National Park. All 4 of us highly recommend it and were excited to return for a second meal!! (The second time, we again ordered the salmon and multiple dishes of chicken with polenta.)

Really nice atmosphere, view, and pretty good food. One night we had quite a wait but really excellent and thoughtful service; the next night we had an interminable wait to order, for our food, for the bill, etc., because of a different server who basically ignored us and everyone in our section, and no one got anything until asking the hostess or other servers.

My wife and I went in Sept of last year and really enjoyed our food. We went again recently (May) and the food was not good. My wife took two bites of her steak and sent it back (tuff and flavorless was her description. I had tortilla soup missing tortilla chips, and my braised short rib tostada was overcooked and tuff as well. I braise short ribs myself and they are NEVER tuff! Nobody seated near us was happy with thier food. Hopefully they hire a new chef very soon!!!

We were so looking forward to a fine dining experience in the national park! But the service was just about the worst we’ve ever experienced anywhere.
The dinners for four of us were prepared well, with large portions, but our server clearly did not want to be there and/or was exhausted or pissed off and/or just did not enjoy her work. It spoiled an otherwise wonderful day.
We called the manager the next day who said they were short-staffed and our server had already worked four hours before the restaurant opened.
NOT a valid excuse. Get her out of there for everyone’s sake! It’s just the start of the season for goodness sake!

The Metate Room recently reopened for the season. It was apparent they are still working out the kinks before peak season for the year. I had ordered the salmon, which per the menu was to be served with creamy polenta and charred broccolini. I received salmon with crunchy wild rice and steamed/boiled, unseasoned broccoli. When looking around the room at other diners' meals, almost everyone had wild rice and broccoli with their various proteins, despite the menu being more diverse. I encourage the team to be more honest with menu modifications in the future.
Though the restaurant advertises itself as a fine dining establishment, I have to disagree. It is certainly better than the other dining options in Mesa Verde NP though. If you are staying in the park and want a convenient meal, this restaurant is worth considering.
