Shame on Montrose Regional Health and CEO Jeff Mengenhausen for asking staff to be scabs for Telluride Ski Resort. We should be supporting ski patrol who keep the mountain safe and are demanding better wages and conditions. Asking MRH staff to take on this job is reckless and places both them and Telluride guests at risk. Shameful! MRH is no longer a community-minded organization when it pits friends and neighbors against each other. Mengenhausen doesn't have to worry about low wages and benefits, as a wealthy CEO. Perhaps, if he did, he would sing a different tune.
My Dr. ordered bloodwork on an outpatient basis. The person who admitted me made multiple errors in that she did not print out the bloodwork orders. Then I went and got my bloodwork done. Then, when my Dr. had not received my results, I called them and was told that they do not send the results to my Dr. It’s MY responsibility to obtain the results and give them to the Dr. Now, a month later, I get a call saying that they missed a lab and want me to come back!
I was admitted to Montrose Regional Health in the early morning hours of July 5th after experiencing a sudden inability to breathe, followed by coughing up blood. The emergency room team acted quickly and with great care, getting me in for a CT scan right away. Concerned by what they saw, they transferred me to the ICU for close monitoring. And that’s where the real story begins—because during the three days I spent in the ICU, I was cared for by some of the most incredible nurses I’ve ever encountered. Chris and Jamie during the day, and Brian at night, were not only skilled but compassionate, encouraging, and deeply human in how they approached their work. On my second day, I woke up discouraged. While all my tests had come back negative (a blessing), the doctors still couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was causing the lung issues—aside from pneumonia. As a mom to a large family, I hadn’t expected to be away from my kids for so long. Chris took the time to truly listen, explaining everything clearly and checking in frequently. He helped bridge communication with the doctors and made sure I felt informed and emotionally supported throughout. Brian, my night nurse, brought exactly the energy I needed—especially during those early 5 a.m. blood draws and medication times. His positive spirit lifted mine. Though my time with Jamie was brief, she was incredibly encouraging, cheering me on with every walk and filling the room with her contagious optimism. The entire ICU team—nurses, assistants, lab techs, and doctors—was phenomenal. I never once felt like a burden, even when I had to get up to use the bathroom what felt like four times an hour. They were always patient, professional, and genuinely joyful in their work. You could feel their dedication—not just to their jobs—but to the people they were caring for. In an environment where fear and uncertainty are high, their care, compassion, and optimism were healing in themselves. I truly believe that this level of emotional care made a significant difference in how quickly I began to recover. I’m also deeply grateful for the growth of Montrose Regional Health and the new specialists they've brought on. Because of this, I didn’t need to be transferred to Junction or Denver to see a pulmonologist. Thank you, Dr. Howe, for listening, investigating, and helping find the root of the problem. I’ve given birth to seven of my children at Montrose Hospital and have consistently experienced thoughtful, high-quality care. This most recent experience only reaffirmed what I’ve always known: the staff here are exceptional, and Montrose is incredibly fortunate to have them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who cared for me—you helped me get back home to my family, and that means everything. 💛
if this is who's cooking your food, I would probably rather eat the dirt out from under the fingernails of a migrant worker.
This is a superb option for Montrose! The Salmon Florentine was perfect. It's weird, because I know I'm commenting on a restaraunt located in a hospital - but the food is really on par with many of the best eateries in Montrose and the prices are delectable!

Consistent, good quality food at affordable prices. Today I enjoyed the lunch special, a slightly spicy pork street taco. Price $1.38. Don’t want to sit-down to eat in a hospital, take it to go. Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

Got an Gryo and it was awesome! However the older lady running the registers was kinda grumpy and quick to snap. You can tell she hates her job. I will go back for the good food and fair prices! Went back for lunch (pre-ordered)and it took way too long for a pre order. Very slow staff. Don't go if you only have a half hour for lunch. Ended up canceling after last sentence. VERY SLOW crew and screwed up my order. Couldnt even figure out how to give me money back. Needs a kitchen manager of some kind. Mass disorganization, 7 people waiting at register to cash out. Just takes to long!
Don't even think about going to Montrose regional hospital. they are retaliatory and it reflected in there bill. I am now $10,000 in debit. I also got kicked out of the ER and had to sit in the lobby and wait for a family member. totally unprofessional. I would hate to really have a life or death emergency. Watch they won't even respond to this review. they can go F#$k them selfs.
What a waste of medical insurance and everyone’s time. I could’ve been in pain in the privacy of my own home. Instead of having nurses leave my door open for everyone and their brother to walk by and stare. Hearing other pts diagnosis/issues, insurance issues and what tests they need done. 😳 $700 a month for medical insurance to use it and be told your diagnosis is “abdominal pain of unknown origin” Meanwhile, their discharge list says to call 911 or go to the Emergency Room if you experience certain symptoms? I was. That’s the whole reason I went in. Fever, difficulty breathing, increased pain, pain lasting for more than 24hrs. Yet I was sent home and told good luck. Blood Pressure 86/41 at one point and no one even bothered to come and check on me. 👍 Thank you Jesus that I was okay, for an ER they don’t monitor their pts well.
Do not recommend coming here. Staff, nurses everyone here do not have modules so very rude. Waited an eternity while we saw everyone get there and leave. There was a poor lady with dementia asking questions and she was left ignored. Sat there with us for hours even asking for help to use the restroom....

Had the fish and chips there. They were actually super good. When you think of hospital food, you thing of something boring and bland but this place actually has really good food. Sometimes I come here to eat even if I dont have an appointment at the hospital itself.

We decided to try the Lobby Grille inside the hospital after reading so many good reviews. It felt slightly weird going inside the hospital for the express purpose of lunch, but it was well worth it. They have a large selection of apps, pizzas, calzones, entrees, and desserts. They also have a full case of bottled drinks, a soda fountain, coffee, salad bar, and so much more. Order at the computers when you enter, and grab a number to take to your table. Once your order is submitted, browse the add ons like bottled water, tea, soda, or build your own salad. Proceed to the cashier, give them the name on your order and your add-on items. My husband and I ordered the jalapeño cheese tater tots, loaded fries, and the beef tips. I also got a soda, and the total for everything was only $28. The staff were very nice and helpful and our food came out very quickly. We brought our computers so we could use the wifi and get some work done, and the network was quite fast. The food was really good. I am giving 4 stars for the food, because my fries were a little soggy. Loaded fries have to be extra crispy since the toppings will make them kind of mushy, so the fries could have used a little more crispy crunch to them. All in all, very impressed and definitely worth a visit if you are in the market for a quick, inexpensive, delicious lunch!
