Super super busy when I showed up. Burger was really good.
One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Family owned, incredible quality. Came back again the next day for another burger! When I came in today, Suzanne helped me. She has great energy and even gave me some recommendations for local hikes to try out! This time I tried the breakfast sandwich, 10/10. Come support this amazing family-owned business!
The best place to eat in Monument. Wish they were open for dinner.
Colorado Burger. Everything was amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Great food
Hands-down, most fantastic burger of my life. One of the best local spots, and a bit of a hidden gem. Can't go wrong with anything that has their garlic aoili. Large menu, superb flavors, and just the best atmosphere, especially during summer, on the patio. Will keep coming back again and again!!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Black Forest Foods Cafe & Delicatessen in Monument, Colorado, and I can confidently say it’s a gem that deserves a spot on every food lover’s map. This family-owned cafe, nestled in the heart of historic downtown Monument, is a vibrant celebration of fresh, high-quality ingredients and heartfelt hospitality that leaves a lasting impression.
From the moment you step into Black Forest Foods, the character of the place wraps you in warmth. The rustic charm of the decor, paired with a casual, bustling atmosphere, feels like a cozy European eatery transported to the American West. The outdoor patio, perfect for sunny Colorado days, adds a delightful touch for those who want to soak in the fresh air while savoring their meal. The staff’s genuine friendliness and passion for their craft shine through, making you feel like you’re dining at a friend’s home rather than a restaurant.
The food? Nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish is a testament to the care and dedication of founder and chef Dragos, whose Romanian roots infuse the menu with a unique European flair. The ingredients are noticeably fresh—sourced with an uncompromising commitment to quality. Whether it’s the juicy, award-winning burgers that locals rave about or the generous sandwiches stacked with premium meats and cheeses, every bite bursts with flavor. I tried the Gyro Salad, and it was a revelation—crisp vegetables, perfectly seasoned lamb, and a tangy dressing that tied it all together. The homemade soups are soul-warming, and the bakery’s pastries, crafted in-house with European tradition, are a must-try. Their gluten-free options are a thoughtful touch, ensuring everyone can indulge in something delicious.
What sets Black Forest Foods apart is its ability to elevate classic comfort food with a sophisticated twist while keeping it approachable and family-friendly. The Lavazza coffee, served in expertly crafted lattes and espressos, is the perfect complement to their delectable desserts, like the fresh-baked cookies and cakes that practically melt in your mouth. It’s clear that every dish is made with love, from the savory grab-and-go entrées to the vibrant salads.
This local favorite has earned its stellar reputation, with 395 neighborhood faves on Nextdoor and a 4.5-star rating on Yelp. It’s not just a place to eat—it’s a community hub where quality meets heart. Whether you’re a Monument local or just passing through, Black Forest Foods Cafe & Delicatessen is a culinary experience that demands a visit. Trust me, you’ll leave planning your next trip back.
Colorado Burger is something to experience. Best burger in COS
I was downtown shopping with my Mom, who’s visiting for Christmas. She decided to walk to the cafe and purchase an iced coffee. She came back to where I was at, and her cup lid was not fitting properly. A few minutes later she ended up spilling the drink everywhere. She went back to the cafe to see if she could get her drink replaced. The gal at the register asked her manager and they refused, making my Mom pay again. I found this to be really shocking. It was an accident and in most cases, I’ve found that if you want to treat customers right, you do nice things. I loved Black Forest Cafe, but treating my mom like that, and 2 days before Christmas, I don’t think I’ll be back any time soon. We support our local businesses it’d be nice for them to treat their local customers kindly.

Delicious and extensive menu. The Smoky Chipotle burger was phenomenal. One of the best burgers in Colorado. Tight inside for a party of six, but we made it work! Just add it to your GPS now!
Vegetarian options: Baby chair available.
Parking: Outdoor area street side has a lot more seating.

Black Forest Cafe serves some of the BEST food in the entire southern Colorado region. The Mediterranean/European inspiration makes this spot so unique and with a menu that would be hard to find anywhere around. They use fresh, high quality ingredients that always show through in the flavors of the food. We eat here often and the dishes are always so consistent. It's also fantastic that they have hard to find grocery items like fresh eggs, bread, and unique foods as well. Our only wish was that the whole place was bigger so more people could enjoy their food!

They have gourmet sandwiches. The french fries are the best I've ever had. They say they're a deli but they bring the food out to you.

Thought I'd give this place a try. It seems popular with a steady customer flow. Great food, I had a gyro salad. Friendly staff. However, the place is somewhat cluttered, and my view of the outdoor cooking area is not very appealing. It just needs to be cleaned up a bit. I'll be back...

Our party of four had four different sandwiches and all were great. The gluten free bread was the best I've had on a long time.
