If I could give a -star I would. I couldn't believe how rude and inconsiderate this place was. Over heated out of state truck and I needed water. They said I could buy it by gallon and no hose. The same family owned garage next door said they had a hose but he didn't want to stay a few minutes. He wanted to go home. That is why the world is the way it is. I was raised u help ppl. Going out ur way for ppl is ok. It's good for u I feel like. I will forever tell about the rudeness and disrespect shown from this place. Do not support this company. Greedy rude perks
This place is absolutely magical I wanted to stay forever
The review pertains specifically to the restaurant and convenience store. Over a span of many years stopping while riding utvs the restaurant and ice cream have become a tradition. It has always been a little pricey. But in the last couple of years it seems to consistently get more expensive and the quality is less and the service gets worse. A stop in there yesterday consisted of a two hour wait for a chicken strip basket and a plate of nachos. The nachos were inedible due to the grossly over salted chips to the point the salt glittered like sugar sprinkles on an auger cookie and what could only be described as basic bulk store cheese over stale chip. The chicken strip basket which was 18 bucks was three strips and some cheap frozen fries. No garnish no nothing just thrown on the plate. Now I know that this is a gas station but having dined here many times over the years this is just like a slap in the face. In the past the chicken strips were fresh cooked and severed with truffle fries and garnish for about 10 bucks which is more than reasonable. Then when sitting for two hours waiting on food and having to ask the server for water multiple times. I think is a disgrace and then to bring the orders out with wrong or in edible is ridiculous. Then let’s talk about the people who think it is cute after already having a bad experience in the restaurant want to joke by not wanting to serve ice cream. It was a waste of time and money. Also not pricing drinks in there cooler to find out the want 5 bucks for a bottled drink. Is just ridiculous.
Stop in for lunch or dinner!!! We drove over Black Sage Pass and stopped in here for lunch. We tried the elk meatloaf melt and the slopper. The melt was nicely toasted and the slopper lives up to its name drowning in delicious green chili. Perfect French fries, nice homemade chips, good coleslaw, and fresh brewed iced tea. Friendly service was the cherry on top of a lovely lunch. Don’t miss out on a scoop of ice cream in the store.
Extremely helpful staff. Above and beyond!
Anybody who agrees to pay $30 a night to boondock here is an absolute fool.
Very nice place to stay overnight and/or eat something when you cycle the GDMBR. The campsite has a tent area right on the creek. The toilet building with showers is spacious and clean. The restaurant has a simple menu with enough choices for high-calorie dishes. The service is friendly. The shop has a limited assortment but with enough options for your further journey.
In the middle of nowhere, but a good bathroom break stop, plus gas and snacks and some souvenirs. Overpriced but it's the only place when driving through, so it is what it is.
Well stocked. Cafe was closed
I am so glad that this gas and restaurant was here in the middle of nowhere it seemed me. I was having car troubles on the drive home from out of state. It just so happened they shut down part of the freeway I was to take and google rerouted me in the middle of the night . The route was terrible but I kept driving...the snow plow drivers close in area were very nice and helpful as well as the store owner and staff at the restaurant...they were all very understanding, compassionate, and sincerely cared. Rare to find and I thank them very much as I didn't know what mountains lay ahead with this BMW I just bought to get to Colorado Springs....What a bunch of Lifesavers! Thank you

These people are great. we had car troubles and arrived at 8:50pm. They stayed late, made sure we were safe and dry during a snow storm. Recommend 200%

Great place to stay or just stop by the Trading Post for a drink or supplies.
Friendly place.
One of my best experiences of 2024 happened while passing through this town when our family group of New York ladies locked the car keys into our rented Jeep Grand Cherokee. Who even knew that could happen with a key fob!?!? We were stranded here for hours and the people at this place, both employees and customers, were beyond kind and helpful, doing everything in their power, and more, to help us on our way. Thanks a million, you guys!! I highly recommend this business!!
