I really wanted to like this BBQ spot, but the experience was meh.
The ribs were the biggest disappointment instead of smoky, savory flavor, they were topped with sugar that completely overpowered the meat making them “sweet ribs”. I couldn’t taste any smoke at all. The brisket was also underwhelming. The highlight was the pulled pork.
Also a disappointing experience to have to pay for bbq sauce.
Overall, the pulled pork is worth trying, but if you’re coming here for classic ribs or brisket, you might leave a little let down.

Great bbq. Only open Friday and Saturday for lunch until sold out. We bought take out beef brisket. Very yummy with great sauce. Not cheap but super high quality food. Friendly people. Get there early.

Start off with great atmosphere and friendly staff. Sam and Wayne the owners are here live and in person serving everyone their “Texas style BBQ”. You absolutely will not leave disappointed you stopped in to check it out. Check out my photos. Everything was great and being a Texan myself I give my highest approval.
Thank yall.

The meats were okay. The sides weren’t great. The peach cobbler was made from canned peaches and a poorly favored topping that was soggy. 140$ for 3lbs of meat, one side and 2 dessert is far too expensive to taste so bland. The owner acts entitled. Don’t waste your time.

I was in town for work from Australia and really wanted to try some proper American food — not gimmicky tourist traps or fast food, but the real deal. You could smell the smoke from the parking lot, and I knew straight away I was in the right place. Wayne’s Smoke Shack absolutely nailed it. This was some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had.
The brisket was incredible — smoky, tender, and packed with flavour. The ribs were cooked to perfection, with just the right balance of smoke, seasoning, and texture. Everything tasted like it had been made with care and tradition. Even the sides were fresh, homemade, and a perfect match for the mains.
The staff were welcoming, the service was smooth, and the whole experience felt relaxed and genuine. You can tell this place takes pride in what they do. I’m so glad I skipped the chains and came here instead.
If you’re looking for authentic, high-quality American BBQ, Wayne’s is the real deal. It’s probably just as well I haven’t found anything like this in Australia — I’d be there every week.

This is my favorite BBQ joint by far I love the flavor and how moist and pull away everything is. My only problem is that it's WAY OVERPRICED they are only open 2 day's a week and for a BBQ place they charge you for the BBQ sauce ontop of the super high premium price your already paying for so I don't understand how a BBQ joint charges extra for the sauce. Other than that I love the place and try to come at least once a month.

Oh. My. Goodness! I have been living in Superior for over a year, and this was the first time I was able to get there before they sold out. It was incredible and all of the hype is absolutely true. Yes, it is a little expensive and the quality justifies the price. Don't even get me started about the candied pork belly. Yum! I happily waited in line when they opened and had lovely conversations with the other customers, all of whom were repeat visitors and assured me I would love it. They were right.

Travelled to Colorado from Texas, this place showed up in my gluten-free app. Was a fantastic experience, great food and awesome people. Will def be back every time I pass through.

The BBQ was amazing!
I like the pay by weight option. Service was great and plenty of seating.
You know a place is good when there is a line at the door before they open 😁

I grew up in Texas and have pretty high expectations for barbecue. Wayne’s did not disappoint. You know that any restaurant able to only be open 2 days a week for lunch must be special! I tried the brisket, green beans, baked beans, and Mac and cheese. There wasn’t a single bite of anything left. Looking forward to going back!

Overall Rating and is it worth a visit: 8.25 to 8.5/10 and Yes. Worth a stop, but not the best in Colorado in anything outside of maybe their garlic mashed potatoes. Wayne’s is located out in a nice suburban strip mall, nestled between Boulder and Denver in the town of Superior, and is open on only Fridays and Saturdays. Admittedly, I was reviewing this for a second time due to a recent Reddit post regarding my Colorado BBQ rankings, where a lot of people had some strong opinions that Wayne’s was the best brisket and bbq in the state. As such, I recognized I hadn’t been there in almost 5 years and my original review was one of my first ever, so I wanted to give them a second chance to see what everyone was raving about. Walking up to the front door, I was hit with a nice smell of smoke, with an unexpected amount of people already waiting in front of me. For it only be 6 minutes past opening, I was pleasantly surprised to see 28 people ahead of me already in line. Upon entering, I noticed they have frozen bbq options also available for takeaway, which is a unique option not really available at other Colorado locations. They also have grab and go take away side dishes as well. As a heads up, they don’t have a liquor license, so only fountain drinks and sweet tea here. Friendly staff though and can serve down to 1/4 lbs of any of the smoked meats. I got the Wayne special, which came with 1/2 lb meat option plus a side and drink, and I added in a wide range of additional meats and sides. While the steady flow of people was nice to see, I found myself confused, because while this is better bbq than I remember, it’s also not worth the premium price they charge compared to other locations. Add in that they don’t have Shiner Bock or Lone Star (Central Texas BBQ staples) or any other beers I can enjoy with my barbecue, and I find myself sticking closer to my original review than what my local Reddit enthusiasts think. Although to be fair, they were better than I remember and do have a good bbq vibe and ambiance to it with solid customer service and improved sides, so I bumped them up 14 spots in my state ranking and 17 nationally. While the food was better than I remember, none of the meats blew me away, with some leaving me underwhelmed. Overall, it is worth stopping in for a visit, as they do have some unique flavors compared to other locations across the state, but I have a hard time putting them in a top 5 in anything outside of their garlic mashed potatoes. I’ve been on a mission the last year to try every barbecue joint that isn’t a chain and review it, I started in North Carolina and I’ve been able to expand it to Colorado. It’s very very difficult to find real authentic barbecue or places that also have reasonable sides because usually the sides aren’t very southern/barbecue. I came to this place a couple weeks back right before they closed so I was only able to get the pulled pork, but it was one of the best pulled pork I’ve had in a while. To me a good pulled pork is flavorful and juicy and not reliant on a form of barbecue sauce and this meat did exactly that. I also got the chili/baked beans and it definitely has a kick to it but me and my dog both heavily enjoyed it. I definitely will come back if I’m ever in the area. Hopefully next time I can make it before they run out of their sides. (Sides in pictures are from another great bbq joint a town over)

This meat is so delicious and dank! The meats are on the sweeter side. If you don’t prefer sweet, I recommend adding a picked jalapeño to balance the flavors. We got there around 1pm and had not much of a wait on a Saturday. We might have been a little lucky due to weather.
