I did not enjoy our experience and truly don't think I will return. We were a party of five that included two children, and I think the restaurant was annoyed with us from the second we arrived. We ordered two appetizers to share and one round of drinks. I did not know this until we paid the bill but the vodka martini cost $38. I don't think that there was any value in this restaurant whatsoever. The appetizers that were served with the meal were fine nothing to brag about. For main courses, the two other adults ordered trout and enjoyed their entree. I had the duck, and the only thing I could say is it was bland at best. Extremely chewy hard to cut hard to eat and no flavor. The staff was not kind or overly happy. I have had many great meals in Telluride at other places and I think I would just go elsewhere next time.

Excellent food! Don't be scared away by the “fixed menu” it just means you need to order app, main and dessert, you aren't locked into choices paired together or anything.

First off, the staff were beyond accommodating for our reservation. Our connecting flight was cancelled and we were re-routed to Aspen and had to drive down, thus making our arrival late. The host said not to worry. I had to call again a while later, as we did not want to arrive just before the kitchen closed, but we were assured it was okay and we would be fed and taken care of. What a relief after a long and stressful day. We were greeted with a warm welcome, told to settle in and take a breath, and enjoy our courses and not worry about rushing. We then enjoyed hearing about the history of the building and restaurant, which started out as an icehouse. Nothing like a little history lesson when visiting a new place. Our waiter was knowledgeable, with no detail spared. His descriptions helped sell some courses for us when making a decision proved difficult. The old fashioned had a French twist, and tasted a bit brighter than a classic version- nice mix. I later had a glass of Pinot Noir as well, which garnered no complaints. My husband enjoyed his beer, and we were treated to a lovely little amuse-bouche. As fans of oysters, we had a dozen raw- fresh with great mignonette, and you'd never know we were in the mountains and not on the coast. The prix fixe menu was a refreshing idea to showcase specific dishes. I started with the salad lyonnaise, then had a varietal duck dish, and finished with gateau basque. The lardons were the best part of the salad, the duck was cooked to perfection, and the accoutrement were nicely chosen. The pickled mustard seed and tender shallots were great. Dessert is not to be missed, with the berry layer tasting surprisingly fresh. My husband chose the onion soup gratinée, Wagyu striploin, and chocolate caramel mousse. All were tasty as well. No complaints were found at the end of this experience, aside from being beyond satiated. We rounded off the night with an espresso, and left so the staff could finally close up.

excellent food well presented. Service was superb! Would love not to have prix fixe as I sometimes like two appetizers instead of main course as a smaller portion.

We had a fabulous experience at La Marmotte. The pre-set three course menu provided many wonderful options. Our group of eight with mixed ages all found the ambience, our terrific server and the food outstanding. Highly recommend!!!

We dropped in for a fabulous dinner at the bar! Daniel really took care of us, suggesting both drink and dinner ideas, and made it a special night.

The quality and service here are absolutely excellent. We experienced a medical emergency during our visit, and the staff went above and beyond to take care of us with kindness and professionalism the entire time. On top of that, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was top tier. Truly an unforgettable experience—we are so grateful!

A wonderful evening. Food, waiter service, ambiance. We put this top of list or our annual trips to Telluride

We had hoped to dine outside but rain prevented that and Robert had an inside table reserved. Cocktails were unique and allowed for the four of us to discuss our day. The three course Pre Fixe meal allowed us to try twelve unique dishes, and none of them disappointed. Generous portions considering that the dinner was only $85/person. A Sommelier helped locate a perfect wine from their very large list, and at a reasonable price. We look forward to returning!

Dating back 30+ years, La Marmotte is not the classic French restaurant it once was when Bertrand & Bertrand ran it, but it is still one of the best dining choices in Telluride. I had the Coq Au Vin & my girlfriend had the Gnocchi, both of which were very good.. As well, the chicken liver pate' was excellent. I was surprised at the 4% cost of living tip automatically added. With an approximate 15% tip I added the bill was around $235.00 total. Dinner the night before at the Sheridan Chop House was of equal quality & price.
