Combo plates offer SO much food for the price, & all of it was delicious! Will definitely come back to try the seafood soups (caldo de mariscos). The chilaquiles look like an amazing option for breakfast, too.
First time there. We had their two specials - The fish tacos (which included their guacamole) and the fish filet. We also ordered the queso because it’s one of my favs and I try it at every Mexican restaurant. I also always try the guacamole at every restaurant. I tried the Fonda margarita since so many commented in their reviews.
I will preference the rest by saying I lived in Texas most of my life and have been to Mexico many, many times. I lean toward Tex-mex and authentic Mexican. I feel strongly that fresh flour tortillas make or break the taste of Mexican food . I’ve been in search of my “go-to” Mexican restaurant since we moved to Colorado two years ago.
Unfortunately this isn’t it. Perhaps we didn’t order the right things. The margarita tasted like a powered mix. The queso was so stringy, it was almost impossible to eat. The chips broke as you tried. Super sorry to say this but the tortillas tasted as if they were store bought and did not taste fresh.
The fish tacos were average to me. The fish tasted fresh though. Their guacamole was excellent.
The decor is really nice and the staff were super nice. We went right at 5 pm on a Tuesday so it was not crowded
If we try it again and find it is better, I will revise my review.

Comfortable
Every time I’ve visited La Fonda, the experience has been consistently excellent. The service is friendly and reliable, the food is always fresh and flavorful, and the drinks are expertly made. The chips and guacamole are my personal favorite, and the owners are exceptionally attentive and kind. I highly recommend La Fonda for anyone looking for great food and warm hospitality.

We got pick picked here from the staff. Enjoy our $780.00. We even went back and they said everyone had left already.
