The Lodge - Windsor

Dining at the lodge is my husbands and my favorite thing to do. We come here almost every week and love our service and food every time.

We always request table 54 where the view is by far the best. My husband enjoyed the special this evening which was mini lamb chops and I loved the steak kabob. Our server was attentive and made sure our evening was eventful.

We will always love the lodge for their kind staff and amazing food.

We came here for our 25th anniversary with a reservation and requested a table for two by the window. After driving 90 minutes and arriving early, we found no host at the front desk—just a sign instructing us to wait. Ten minutes later the host arrived. We reiterated our reservation and special occasion, and again requested a window table. She said she needed to prep it, then returned five minutes later—only to take a phone call, wave us off, and disappear.

While we stood waiting, another party without a reservation (a dad and his young daughter) was seated immediately by a different staff member. When the host finally resurfaced, she mentioned the AC was broken and led us to a four-top in the middle of the restaurant. It was uncomfortably hot, and the window table for two we had reserved had already been given to walk-ins. When we asked about a shady corner table by the window, we were told it was held for “a guest with a reservation.” I thought that’s what we were.

After 20 minutes of waiting—on our anniversary—we left. It was clear our special occasion wasn’t going to be special here, and frankly, sitting in a hot, airless dining room wasn’t appealing either.

Fortunately, we found another restaurant nearby that welcomed us warmly, served excellent food, kept the AC running, and ensured our 25th anniversary was memorable in all the ways The Lodge failed to.

My friend and I tried this place for the first time tonight. To say that it was amazing would be an understatement! Stephanie was stellar! The ambiance was on point. The view was epic.the food was delicious. The drinks were carefully hand-crafted with carefully and love. I literally hesitate to share this for fear that too many people will start going here! So. Coming. Back.

Update
I have down graded to four stars for two reasons; not so great Steak Kabobs and very slow service. BUT, my wife had the Short Ribs and my son had the Pelican Lake Ribeye, both of which were excellent. See pictures below. The Stake Kabobs were a real mixed bag. Some of the meat was over cooked and only a piece or two were lukewarm, the rest were room temperature. And the meat had a subtle chalky taste to it that was off putting. I did not complain because I did not want to spoil my son’s birthday dinner.

Regarding the slow service we waited a while after we finished eating to get the plates cleared. Then we waited a while to get the desert menu and finally we waited a while to get the check. Also, they allowed my water glass to go empty even though I was not drinking it that fast. I do not expect this from a restaurant of this caliber.

I was looking forward to trying the Wagyu steak but it is no longer on the menu even though we were told it was the day before. My wife had the beef stroganoff which she said it was 5 star. She did have difficulty with the noodles because they were Lasagna noodles and she has arthritis. I had the Filet with Au Gratin potatoes. The steak is what you would expect from a high class restaurant but the seasoning on everything was excellent. The Au Gratin potatoes while tasty were a little hard to eat. There was a crust on the top and bottom that did not break apart easily and the bottom crust was burned. I would like to see some other steak options like the Wagyu on the menu. A resturant like this should have something you can’t get elsewhere. Service was very friendly but you could tell the servers were over extended. For a restaurant like this the servers should be able to give you their full attention and not forget some of the little things. All in all it was a great experience for my wife and I.

Super disappointed in our experience as we were very excited to try out The Lodge. My wife and I went last night for her birthday dinner. We were excited to celebrate with a nice meal here in Windsor. This was also going to be most likely our last nice dinner out for a while as my wife is 8 months pregnant.
We had a reservation for 6:15 and when I checked in there seemed to be some confusion on where to seat us. It wasn't a huge deal as they got it situated and found a table to seat us in. After that, it started out pretty well. Our waitress introduced herself and was very welcoming. We ordered our drinks, which took longer than expected to come out but we didn't really think much of it. Unfortunately my drink had a bug in it that I didnt notice until I was towards the end. It wasn't a huge deal, but I wanted to request a new one but didnt get a chance for about 30 minutes. We also ordered an appetizer, which came out promptly, but we didnt see our waitress for almost 45 minutes after that and we still needed to order our entrees.
A large party was seated next to us about 30-45 minutes after we had been there and they got their order taken before us. At this point I was a little frustrated because it felt like we had been forgotten. She got our order after them, and to their credit our food came out before and fairly fast. Unfortunately my steak was three different temperatures throughout, and it was sent out without a steak knife.
Besides when she dropped the check and we paid, we saw our server a total of 3 times in the 2 hours we were dining there. We paid $120 before tax and got a poorly cooked steak, doughy undercooked focaccia, and a drink with a bug in it. To their credit, the potato croquettes and my wife's risotto was very good.
There seems to be many good reviews, so I believe this place can be better. However, our experience was truly disappointing.

Went on a Friday night - not overly busy. Staff was very friendly and helped us with order suggestions since it was our first time there. The food was delicious and the drinks were amazing! Highly recommend for a nice night out.

I love the atmosphere of this restaurant the place is located facing a golf and a small lake. It’s a very nice place.

I love to leave 5 star reviews, unfortunately not this time. It was a 20 minute wait for a server after being seated. In all fairness, our server had the entire dining room as well as the patio. Shame on management. She was kind and professional. We gave up on ordering deserts and asked for the check. We left with the feeling that this was a golf club--and we didn't belong.

A fun gathering to celebrate my husband’s 70th! Good food, great setting!
