My first review didn’t save but I felt so emotionally jarred after my experience that I had to write it again. After our long and strenuous hike, we were so excited to try the diner except one of us who had seen the future. Let me tell you, our excitement was short lived. All I’ve wanted for the past week was a chocolate milkshake so you can imagine how happy I was when there were multiple posters advertising milkshakes, but when I asked what milkshake flavors they had, I was told “I really don’t want to make that”. So I order a water instead which was mad crispy. This almost made me forget about this interaction, but less than 10 minutes later, four customers came in and she made milkshakes for all of them. The burgers were WELL DONE. Fries were cancerous, tater tots immaculate. Ordered a scrambled egg, and received an omelet. Our server acknowledged that “I knew I forget something” about my waffle and then proceeded to put the batter back in the fridge when I was in the bathroom. Also a weird guy came in, stared at us and left (we are an ethnic group). Overall, I highly recommend.

Ate at Penny’s a couple times during our stay in Yampa. Had the Frisco burger and a grilled cheese + bacon. Both were great. Another person on the party ordered the breakfast burrito. It was large and looked fabulous. Seemingly the same 3 women were working there around the clock but they were super helpful to myself and our crew. Those ladies definitely need a raise!

I understand being short staffed but today was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant! To start the tables were disgusting we had to ask for a rag for the table to be cleaned There was only one lady working and she had no idea what was happening it took her 30 minutes just to acknowledge us and after I still had to ask for a menu and drinks after we placed our order she came back 4 times asking what we ordered it was 2 burgers one with a salad one with fries had to ask for straws drinks menus and even condiments that was suppose to be on the burger they allowed people not working and their children behind the counter to make milkshakes and such as well. Do not recommend whatsoever.

First, my friend and I ordered before the only two other people at the restaurant. The other people got their food and were gone 15 minutes before the cook told me she was out of gravy for my biscuits and gravy. She tells me to pick something else. I pick the hopped up hashbrowns with sausage. I get my food and it's ice cold, no cheese or sausage. I ask her to remake it correctly (she had to look at the menu to see ingredients) and she ARGUES with me. She didn't even cook my friends food and the other folks have been gone for 30 minutes now!!! This is a joke. If you are a cook that can only cook 1 meal at a time, please don't work at a diner. This is why I hate tipping before I get my food.

I ordered two cheeseburgers to go, paid about 30 bucks. Got to my motel and neither burger was fully cooked. Completely red inside, absolutely disgusting. Good thing I didn't get sick. The fries were soggy, too. Do not eat here, just drive on by, keep it moving.

Found this place through Google while on cross country road trip. It's a stainless steel diner on a dirt street in the middle of nowhere. I think it's attached to a motel for railroad crews, but it attracts a variety of folks.

Have to admit I was pretty skeptical when I first came in. Kinda expected to spend the next day on the toilet, but didn't.

Food was pretty darned good. The chili burger is excellent.

Good place for a quick bite. Traditional diner food, good stuff. The service was outstanding, our waitress and chef went above and beyond and out of her way to make sure we were fed and satisfied. She works fast and efficiently, very nice person
