AMAZING food, I love how much you can fine-tune the spices. Great value lunch specials too. Orders always correct and hot. Love this place! :-)

The flavor of the dishes was good but the naan was hard and cold, very unenjoyable.

I always have a good experience getting take out here. Nice option for a relatively inexpensive work lunch. The spice options on the website are absolutely bizarre as well.

Himalaya, a Himalayan/Nepalese restaurant in Berlin, has been on my radar for a while because of its high overall Yelp rating. We recently moved closer and I decided to try it for a work at home lunch day. I did no research before going. It turns out that Himalaya does not presently have a dine in option, which is fine because I live nearby. I walked in to look at the menu and order. I'm not sure if the person who helped me was having an off day, or maybe he's used to regular customers ordering ahead and didn't like having to change his routine, but he was not particularly welcoming. No smile or friendly greeting. I'm fairly sure that he rolled his eyes when I went to pay with cash. I don't know who this person was relative to the restaurant, but it didn't set a good tone. I ordered from the Lunch Specials. I ordered the Chicken Saag special which came with Basmati Rice and Naan. I don't remember the exact cost, but I remember being surprised at how inexpensive it was. Everything on the Lunch Special menu was inexpensive relative to places I frequent. I was told that it would be 10 minutes. I returned around 15 minutes later and my order was ready. All of the food was at least OK to pretty good, but didn't really pop for me. I'm much more familiar with Indian restaurants than I am with Nepalese and Himalayan restaurants, but some of the dishes share names. I'm not sure if there are seasoning and other variations in Indian versus Nepalese cuisine, or if any variations are more based upon the chefs cooking the meals. In any event, Himalaya's version of both the Saag and the chicken in the Saag were different than I'm used to. I prefer the way the Saag is seasoned in my favorite Indian places in CT. I feel like the chicken in most Indian restaurants is kebab style and is cooked in a tandoori oven. Himalaya's chicken had a rougher texture and seemed like it was perhaps roasted. It was pretty good, but probably my least favorite Saag dish I've had in a while. The Basmati rice was fine. The naan was OK. The texture and flavor didn't measure up to my favorite Indian restaurants. I have multiple nearby Indian restaurants that I prefer to Himalaya. In light of that and my less than positive service experience, I'm unlikely to return to Himalaya. However, given Himalaya's strong overall rating, it's clear that others have had good experiences and maybe you'll have better luck than I did. And as I said, the lunch specials are a good value. 3 Stars

Not bad, not great. I think I was expecting more out of the flavor of the goat vindaloo. I might try it again, just seeing as the only take out Indian dish I get is the vindaloo I'm not sure. The meal doesn't come with naan which bothered me and the flavor was just one note. Maybe it was an off night?

Himalaya hits the spot, especially on a rainy day (which we seem to be having a lot of lately). Not far from the Berlin train station, Himalaya is takeout only, and seems to have been for some time. The dining room is darkened and blocked off, with a sign directing you to the pickup table. There was a noticeable smell of mold upon entering...possibly due to the aforementioned rain? But the food was perfectly fine, if a little chilly in temperature. Nothing a quick zap in the microwave can't fix. I went with good ol' chicken tikka masala, but there are plenty of options for the more adventurous. You are required to choose a spice level, and as the heat increases, so does the price! I chose "mild" but would definitely kick it up a notch or two next time. All in all, I enjoyed my quick lunch and would put Himalaya on the short list next time I'm craving Indian takeout.

This restaurant currently does takeout only, but the food is delicious and authentic. We ordered butter chicken, lamb masala, and a paneer dish. There was plenty of rice (although I missed the crispy naan bread!) and even enough left over for my lunch, which I can't wait to eat tomorrow!

Went and they were closed for dining in open only for takeout. All the exits to the dining room were covered.

Incredible first experience. I ordered the Lamb Tikka masala and Chicken Bhuna lunch specials and I don’t think I’ve had a better tikka masala in my life. I ordered two lunches simply because I could not fathom getting a decent sized portion for under $10. Boy was I wrong, two massive pieces of naan for each meal and a boxes stuffed with food.My only critiques:- chicken in the bhuna was decently dry, but the bonus points from the lamb tikka masala being literally perfect lead me to not take off any stars.- VERY messy. Obviously not too important however I work in an office and taking this back to my desk required a full clean up simply because the sauce spilled out of the box and got all over the bag, outside of the box. Hoping next time this could be a little more considered, but does not take away from my experience. Will DEFINITELY be back regularly!

We ordered takeout from Himalaya tonight (upon pickup we realized it's takeout only anyway.) It's a rainy cold day here so Indian food is always a cozy comfort food option to us. The food was ready in 25 minutes as promised. Everyone there is quiet, but polite and kind. The tikka masala is a home run. The flavors are on point and the best we've had since our favorite Indian place in Wallingford closed down pre covid. The color is stunning and the depth of flavor is unmatched. The portion is generous also - we split the entree and were stuffed. The picture I posted was half an entree for reference. Next time I would ask to kick up the heat(spice) a notch as it is very mild. Please note that in general I prefer food very spicy. So if you do not like spice, please know you can order this without fear. We also ordered vegetarian samosas and garlic naan. Both were a nice surprise and even better than we imagined. This is our new go-to for Indian and we will be frequent flyers for sure!

Ordered on Uber eats this morning and they must’ve had left overs that they refried. Hard oily, super salty and awful. Very disappointed..
